I too and facing a position being outsourced to Nuance. I wonder if we work for same hospital system? I am checking into coding, being in this industry 20 years also. I have checked into CareerStep and they have job placement with a company called IOD. It is a 4-12 month course depending on how fast you finish it. I researched this IOD as well and find some information but not much. It all says the salary is around 40,000 with a home-based position but not sure entry level where we would start out at. I am afraid of Nuance, hearing about outsourcing and their 99% standard for QA. I have worked for vendors in the past and when they go to editing we have to work twice as hard or more hours to earn a decent wage compared to an hourly at hospital we received. I have heard good and bad and going to "ride it out." I have a mortgage and children too, so it is scary. I hope you do very well. I will keep you posted on my decisions in the future. I am thinking of doing the coding course online in January, maybe sooner if the bottom falls out at Nuance! I am reassured by management at hospital that I will do well but not sure if they are just sugar coating this all. Keep in touch.
