MTSO management? Read this. - sm

Posted: Jan 13, 2013

I have noticed my main account going out of TAT recently.  It virtually NEVER did before.  You know why?  Because when you cut our pay and show no appreciation of us, we don't care to give you our free time, work on our days off or jump on when we are not scheduled, anymore.  So you see, your actions have consequences.  Not to mention that you over-staff so work is no longer steady.  And when you've succeeded in running off all the most talented, hard working people, you will find that you start losing accounts to your competition.  Of course, you should already know all of this, but still you keep progressing down the same road.

Hit the nail on the head - USMT

I have been saying this for a few years now and letting them know. They don't care. I don't know what thought process they are following but it goes against common sense in every way. By doing this, they kill morale and dedication and ultimately lose good workers. I'm waiting for the day when it backfires on all of them, if it ever happens at all.

They just changed - my main account

to a "start/stop". We can't work on it if there's less than a certain number of reports in the queue. And now, after they've closed it, all those reports that are sitting in the queue are going OTAT because they won't let us stay caught up with them. There goes our set schedules, too. If we don't flex, we lose even more money. I'm new to this, but I'm already fed up.

Sorry, but you at least brought this on yourself. Should have gotten - "fed up" proactively on researching. nm

I know what you mean! I worked for them for about a year before they took over the company I worked for before. Boom, the work became nonexistent. The paycuts came like crszy! Flexing time is just stupid. They need to give us work. I quit. Last day I worked there, I made like 5 bucks for a whole day, an 8 hour shfit, due to "flexing time." File for unemployment. At least you will make more than at Nuance. Gives you time to find another job. I got it, and the UE office agreed it was all wrong!

Note To Management - PLEASE READ
Dec 04, 2012

When you overstaff accounts, you instill a sense of fear in your workers.  Fear that they will not make enough money to eat/pay their rent/afford the finer things in life...like toilet paper and toothpaste.  When this happens, your workers rush to finish reports.  When they rush, they make mistakes.  When they make mistakes, your clients lose faith in your company.  Your workers also lose any loyalty they may have had to your company.  This is a lose-lose situation. ...

Hiring MTSO's Please Read!...sm
Mar 11, 2010

As an experienced MT, 20+ years, who has been looking for a new position, I am very disconcerted by MTSO's posting available jobs. asking for experience, givng the trite line "compensation based on experience and testing", and then offering insulting rates (7 or 8 cents a line) as an IC AND requiring a schedule!  Number one, this equates to about 5 or 6 cents a line after the IC pays expenses and taxes, not anywhere near what I would expect if experience i ...

COMMENTS TO MTSO'S WHO READ THESE BOARDS
Jun 26, 2011

As much as we all like for things to go back the way they were before VR, before offshoring, before the EMR, that is unlikely to happen.  I come from an era of transcription where we actually could support ourselves on being a medical transcriptionist.  Unfortunately, that is not the case with transcription any longer.  I work for three different companies and there isn't a dime's worth of diference in any of them low pay, long hours, supervisors that are not MTs that ar ...

Not Management
Mar 08, 2010

I am not management!  You just don't get it.  I hate to say it, but many of you are too miserable here to see the good... for whatever reasons.   I am an MT.  I'm tempted to put my real name and MQ e-mail, but what for.  I've said what I did because I am doing okay, because I have been through frightening changes before with MQ and it has always worked out.  It seems foolish to tell you my real name though, as you mostly are a bunch of whining loser ...

New Management
Sep 13, 2011

Decided to send this note to our new management after the e-mail we got today about Mission One, whatever the heck that is.  I know I'll never get a response, never do.  But sometimes you just have to vent!  Here it is:  Hello.  Everytime we get new management, I throw these questions out although they still have yet to be answered to any satisfaction.  I've been with this company since WAY back when it took over Digital Dictation back in the 90 ...

Is It Some New Management Technique Not To Say Thank You To
Sep 22, 2010

I'm a high producer and self starter. I don't need hand-holding.  But, geesh, it's just human nature to want to hear a sincere, individual compliment for a job well done sometimes, if for no other reason than it motivates me to do a better job and make the company more money.  At some point, it seems most management has started to treat the worker bees as enemies instead of part of the team.  It's short-sighted and lazy, and I know it has to be costin ...

Performance Management
Oct 12, 2010

I haven't been put on PM yet but fear I might.  Got an email that said I had a "low-scoring feedback report."  It was for using follow up instead of followup (I know better) and then omitting the word "the."  Now, I will own up to these mistakes, they WERE my mistakes, but by no means life-threatening in any case.  But apparently this caused my score to drop below 98%.  Now I'm terrified they are going drop my pay by 3 cents a line, and I am already in danger of not being able to ...

Dear Management
Jun 09, 2011

Dear Management,  I have enjoyed working for you for the past several years ... best place I have worked in during my 20+ years as an MT.  HOWEVER, why do you find it ethical to find ways to sneak in the back door and take money out of my pocket, thinking I will not notice.   Yes, I understand, you need your own line counting system because the one I type in for the client gives me partial credit for headers and footers, and of course I shouldn't get credit for those after ...

Incompetent Management
Jul 05, 2011

After years of going through this, finally I have no other conclusion to draw but that it's pervasive.  I am talking about incompetent management. They talk about "the team" this, "the team" that.  But they have NO concept of what teamwork is, so that is just lip service. If I make a very simple request for something that will make the work flow more efficient and help everyone, I am either blown off completely or told "we will TRY to do that, but we're ...

How Do You Get Management To Listen.
May 30, 2012

The MTs on my account have constantly complained about 1 doctor on VR who does not belong there!!  We are simply typing his reports for the lesser pay.  We have complained directly to our supervisor about it and nothing has been done because we do not send the reports to QA.  Certainly, you can understand what he is saying, that is not the problem.  The problem is he will not speak in complete sentences, and spells everything, so how can you send this to QA?  It signific ...

Nuance Management
Jul 17, 2012

After being with Nuance for over 1 year, I am disappointed that all I ever hear is bad news. I strive to make each document excellent, not just good, but no one cares about that, all they want is LPH which mysteriously went from 100 to 200 for the same pay. Kudos is needed for us peons who work so hard to keep quality standards high. How about a raise? ...

Management Positions
Nov 07, 2012

Upper Management
Mar 28, 2013

Nuance has just had a MAJOR announcement!  They are making changes to upper management AGAIN.  It is no wonder we get paid crap.  Look at their structure and they have WAY too many people in this establishment and all making way more than we do and we are the ones that do the work.  Heck, they probably do not even know how to do transcription I bet.  Greed, greed, greed.  And I could care less about it.  Give me the pay I am worth.  They want better qualit ...

My Management Team Is Gone ... :(
Sep 18, 2013

The TSM and QC person I've worked with forEVVVVER in the west is gone, both of them being moved up into new positions, and dividing their accounts and the entire team of MTs/MMEs has been disassembled and moved to other areas.  I am *terribly* sad about this because they were both absolutely amazing to work for, but I'm glad that I'll be staying in the Western region. My question is about my new TSM here in the West.  Her initials are KP ... anyone working with her?&nbs ...

Let's Pretend That Management Comes Here
Nov 22, 2013

What suggestion would you like to make? Try to be more specific than "pay us more money."  Pretend you're on a task force and (this is really a stretch I know) that someone values your opinion.  What would you suggest? One of my top ones would be to fix the fuzzy physician search that has been disabled for almost a year.  Another would be to get India on the same system we use, with Job Search available.  It's obvious they don't have it because they leave so m ...

New Management Or MISmanagement?
Feb 19, 2014

Ever since getting a new COM, we've had no work. It started out slowly, but now it's every single day for several hours constantly in the morning and then intermittently throughout the day. How can this not be obvious to the COM's boss, whoever that may be? ...

To Nuance Management
Jun 12, 2014

Dear (and I use the term loosely) Nuance Management:  I know you monitor this board, so I hope you’ll see this and take it to heart, but I doubt you will.  You haven’t yet, so why should one more voice make any difference? There was a time when I cared.  There was a time when I took pride in my work.  There was a time when I really was glad I was an MLS, but no longer.  Nuance has beaten that out of me, through FIESA and their arbitrary QC/QA practices.  I can no longer say that I a ...

To Focus And Transcend Management

I know management at all levels from both companies read this board.  I have been told so directly by management at both companies. In the interest of providing some constructive criticism, I wanted to give you some simple insight into what you could do to improve your retention rates: Both Focus and Transcend have excellent pay structure, platforms and clear policies. Health Care Management Or IT?
Aug 17, 2010

I'm going back to school to get out of transcription. I currently do QA. I have a 2-year degree in health information technology and am trying to figure out whether to go get a Bachelor's in information technology and health informatics or go for a business degree with a healthcare management emphasis.  I know electronic records are taking over and health informatics is a growing field. Does anyone have any suggestions? I know with IT I'd need to keep up a bunch of certificat ...
