am I gonna have a big reduction in pay when my 45 days training is up? read on - newbiegalmt

Posted: Jul 13, 2010

I just can't get going fast on these terrible accounts.  I was doing 200 lph ST at my old job and nearly 400 lph VR (on EditScript) and I don't think I will EVER get this fast at MedQuist.  I am really worried that in 2 weeks I will drop down low enough that I either won't get benefits or they will fire me or I will be making minimum wage.

Worried...

Rachel

yup.. sorry... be worried - old vetran of Q

I heard EditScript is TONS better than ASR.

I know after 4 years of editing, I never hit 400 per hour.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

I can barely keep up the 150 lph minimum on ASR - sick and tired

[ In Reply To ..]
Of course, I have the cra*ppy ASR accounts, but I can't edit it as fast as I can type (and yes I can read fast, tried the short-cuts, . . . )

yeah I have to at least keep that. need my insurance big time - newbiegalmt

what caused you to have to leave - your old job

I wish I could be more positive, but there is no way you will see 400 lph with MQ ASR. I hope things improve for you after training.

I needed insurance and I was an independent contractor... - newbiegalmt

I'm not going to freak out about it too much as long as I can keep my benefits. I want to stay at MQ until I have my "2 years acute care experience" under my belt. Then I will get my CMT and go somewhere else and make some much better money. But right now, I have health issues and I NEED insurance...

I remember when my goal was 200 lph average... - back in the OLDEN days.

...when I used to make pretty decent money and all.

oh yeah! - I remember

[ In Reply To ..]
I totally remember having a PRIMARY account and being able to crank out an average of 325 lines per hour. AWESOME PAY...

Now, if I ever have the rare experience of typing, I can barely get 150. The only thing I can muster in my pea-sized brain would be line manipulation!

I type 98 wpm so this is really disheartening for me! - newbiegalmt

I type way faster than 98 wpm and I am not making any - money (of course I am on

MT stars; maybe that has something to do with it?)
Even with your CMT you may not make a good deal more money. MQ stated a very small amount sm - MQMT
[ In Reply To ..]
for CMT and whatever the other certification is, I cannot remember as it makes no diffrence to me but just beware of that possibility.

This link will help you ... - it did me. nm

Newbie doing okay - Jcor

[ In Reply To ..]
If it gives you any hope, I was a newbie and have averaged about $12 an hour after my training pay ended. It probably all depends on your accounts though, I think I got lucky with a good one.

Thanks. That does help - Newbiegalmt

Dec 18, 2014

As SOON as I quit, which will be very soon, I will be happy to post any emails and replies that I get from Nuance.  I sent my TSM an email about my pay and was basically told to take it up with payroll, so I did.  I'm still waiting for an answer or non-answer from them.  I won't hold my breath though, I don't really look good blue.  I will also go so far as to post the pay tier that was on my last timecard.  Beware the copier and paster Nuance!  Bewar ...

Gonna Try Something New Here
May 17, 2015

The next time I get an error for something that VR should definitely know simply by having "learned" after 5 years of MTs "teaching it" by changing it to the correct term, I am going to request a reversal and fight it to get removed from me when VR consistently gets it wrong and DOES NOT LEARN. Why should I get the error which affects my pay when their program can't get it right after 5000 corrections? Similarly, recently I got a major error because the doctor on my 5th account (not my pri ...

Probably Not Gonna Make Any Friends With This One, But...
Aug 26, 2011

I'm seeing a lot of these, “I hate my job” threads lately. To be fair, it's mostly aimed at Medquist, and other similar entities, but still.  Gotta keep your chins up guys. As a student, I find these kinds of threads very disheartening. In the very near future I'll be joining the ranks, and I won't lie; I would be tickled pink to be making minimum wage, or any wage whatsoever. A hundred dollars a week would be great for me. Obviously that's not ideal, b ...

Gonna Make A Suggestion
Apr 10, 2013

I want to extend a great big THANK YOU to everybody who has posted on this board, both good and bad.  I never took the negativity personally or to heart.  In fact, I considered it a lesson that I needed to learn with respect to the way this industry has deteriorated. That coupled with my sciatica (only when sitting) convinced me that it was time to move on once and for all, which I have. I would like to see others in this industry do the same. The biggest problem for me was findin ...

Dec 05, 2014

I saw the video, read the information, went to the meeting. Decided it's not worth stressing at this point, what can I do about it? But for the next 2 weeks I'm going to do the best job I can, as usual, and be a little more careful with my webclock punches.  Then I'm going to use the old plan to track my lines as usual, apply any shift differentials as usual, and calculate my total gross pay as usual. Then when the 26th paycheck comes, I'll look at the gross pay and see ...

Ridiculous Reduction In Pay
Jul 28, 2010

As with most of you, my pay from Medquist has taken a total nose dive ever since ASR went to 85% while at the same time cutting our transcription rate down for ASR from 70% to 60%.  That's a 40% pay cut!!!  I've had to take another job elsewhere to try to make ends meet.  Besides that, our health benefits are the absolute worst and get worse every year.  Can anyone ever remember any kind of cost of living raise?   I used to make $36,000 annu ...

QA Line Rate Reduction
Apr 26, 2010

Why is it that we receive a reduced line rate when the blanks cannot be filled in by QA either? I've checked my feedback and most of the QA markers I left were also left blank by the QA person. WMX Reduction In Force Employees
Oct 05, 2010

Hoping everyone has found new and happy homes.  Frightening to think we can so easily lose our job (through no fault of our own).   I understand it was not just new people hired for that specific account but some of you had been there a while and were put on it and got zapped.  I thought of asking for transfer to it simply because it was a large account.  Wow, I dodged that bullet. Sorry you were not as lucky. Best of luck to you (and the rest of us). ...

Need To Know - Line Rate Reduction
Jun 21, 2013

I have worked for the same company since 2010.  I received a phone call today that my primary account has demanded a "flat-rate price reduction" so my pay will also be reduced for my standard transcription line rate to "accomodate the client" and not lose the account.  I do work on a speech rec platform and most of the reports are edited, but I have never had anything like this happen before.  I like my company and the accounts I work on and there is usually plenty of work, but I ...

Pay Reduction For Some Platforms Question
Jan 15, 2015

Seem to remember at one point they were reducing percentage paid on some platforms, there was a lot of hubaloo and then (if I am not mistaken) they went back on this and allowed them to be paid for full lines typed. Is my memory correct? Going by this I wonder if there is a ray of sunshine at the end of this long, long tunnel.  Perhaps they will make further adaptations to this plan as they figure out it isn't workign well.   This HEENT/HENT crap is totally unreal and that ...

IMEDX, Question About Reduction In Bonus
Feb 13, 2015

The e-mail I got said it has been reduced to 2 cents above your line rate.  Bonus before was set at line rate and 1/2, which I thought they did because it would be the equivalent to "time and a half," which is, I believe, the law when you are working beyond 40 hours in a week.  If you are working bonus, which is usually the case, above your 40 hours, is it legal for them not to pay the equivalent of time and a half?  ...
