Inactive time - rde

Posted: Feb 19, 2015

Does everyone realize that we are given inactive time if the moronic dictator decides to call in and wait 300 seconds before actually dictating a report if they dictate anything at all?  I just did a 400 second transcription job and I spent the first 300 seconds listening to the news in the background while he talked about the news.  I finally type the report and get out of it and see that I was "docked" 2.48 seconds for having to listen to NOTHING.  I already got in trouble for "inactive time" before, almost being placed on performance management because of it.  Yet we are expected to do exactly what when these idiots do this type of crap?  So if you walk away from a report for a minute or 2 and leave the sound playing it recognizes that and you are given inactive time. Try it once and see what happens to your inactive time on the main Fluency screen.  What crap that is that we are once again penalized for idiotic dictators.

I cannot believe you sat through 300 seconds of nothing - was it SR?

you know you can skip ahead, right? If it is SR you can double click on a word that seems to make sense and see where you are in the dictation, i.e., still listening to the news or the dictator speaking. I have a higher line count by clicking ahead, especially when it's a familiar dictator who dictates the same thing every time.

Fortunately, this was one of those rare occasions when it was an actual typing job. Shocked?! I was too lol and he was an excellent dictator except for that.

Inactive time - Could you

[ In Reply To ..]
have just sat there and typed one word over and over until the dictation kicked in or could you have fast forwarded the report? I hope you report this incident to someone, totally unfair, but hey what else is new with M*M. They should change their name to, "Work for Us and get the shaft." For all the reasons that are stated on this forum, is the reason I quit M*M; I couldn't take the stress of QA, all that performance junk, the horrible ESLs and VR, I just couldn't take it. I don't know how the MTs that they have do it and not go completely postal!

Working for M*M - Not crazy anymore

[ In Reply To ..]
When I worked for M*M I was always in a bad mood and snapped at everyone, so tired, I could hardly move and never wanted to do anything, could barely get out of my sweat pants, picked at junk food and sat at that darn computer waiting for work or a tongue lashing from someone about something. I finally had it and quit, because I realized who I should have been angry with was M*M and since I really couldn't take it out on them, I lashed out at everyone and everything else. The minute I quit, all of that went away and now at least I can function, but still in my sweat pants! :o) I get out of the house now and enjoy the outdoors, no more Doritos, etc and my family is much happier as well and I am still working as an MT, but for a somewhat decent company, who treats you like a person and respects what you do. Our QA is absolutely the best.

M*M are hiring!!?? - Helen

I am a new MTE grad looking for my first job. I have been informed that M*Modal is hiring, however, from what I read on here I should not apply as the company treats their transcriptionists badly??

Inactive Time/BOOST Bull!
Jun 28, 2012

Ok, not sure if I'm the only one who had this initial perception of the mentoring program and the BOOST initiative, but it is my impression that during my mentoring session it was kind of IMPLIED that if our inactive time decreased our pay would go up...me thinking my daily pay for SR. Inserted in there ever so sneakily from my mentor is the fact that the inactive time has NO BEARING WHATSOEVER on our daily production pay! A low inactive time only affects PTO, downtime, etc., pay which is ...

Got My ASR Production/inactive Time Statistics ;)
Jul 10, 2012

Of course I'm over the "target". Hmm.... they us answering the phone, searching the internet and walking away from the work station. One huge cause of inactive time they are conspicuously leaving out is taking the time to read client profiles! - Especially when I am getting many jobs outside of my usual BOB. I'm happy to do a good job - follow the CP, make sure I have the right drug and dosage because the doctor can't pronounce the drug well enough, find the correct name of a s ...

Wow. I Have Been Clocked In 45 Minutes, And My Inactive Time Shows As 34 Minutes.
May 08, 2013

It appears to be only counting the active time to be the actual time the audio is playing and not all the time I spend in ADT and formatting. Looks like they may be manipulating the figure to ding people "for not actively working" for long periods of time. Hmmm, building another way to fire people? ...

Trying To Find Part-time Or Full-time Employee Position (hospital/clinic)
Apr 30, 2013

If anyone knows of a hospital, clinic, or large practice offering remote full-time or part-time employee positions, I would really appreciate an email.  I have the sudden need to help support a family member long term (in addition to myself) and really need to find a long-term remote employee position for the stability.  Yes, I watch all the various employment sites and even individual hospital sites, but I was hoping that maybe, just maybe someone who works for a hospital that does th ...

Overtime Because Of The Time Clock Time Zone Change?
Feb 06, 2011

It has been inconvenient, and maybe a bit confusing at times, to check my time card hours for my shift as, because of my time zone, part of my hours show up on the next day because I work 2nd shift. I wonder if I will get overtime for yesterday, even though I did not work overtime. I had to start work several hours early because of maintenance, so all hours were completed before the hour my hours start showing up on the next day. Fine. But the last couple hours of yesterday show up as today, ...

Anybody Else's Actual Time Worked Not Match Clocked Time?
Jun 13, 2011

Ever since they have changed Schedule Source and now it has a display called today's activity with "actuals" hours, this has not matched the hours shown with the time clock punches and is less than the hours according to the clock punch. The difference adds up to a significant amount over time. I am really suspicious about being jypped paywise. ...

MQ Rehire Policy For Part Time To Full Time
Apr 09, 2011

I worked for MQ full time and then went to part time last year, before finally quitting altogether because of health problems. I seem to remember an obscure policy that if you were full time and then went to part time, you could not go back to full time for a period of at least 1 year.  Can anyone verify that for me? IF, and this is a big IF, I were to go back to work for MQ, I would need to be full time. ...

Optiscript Part Time To Full Time
Nov 19, 2011

Does anyone care to share that if you are hired at optiscript part time will they let you change to full time easily? I know they are a small company and do not over hire so I do not know how easily this could be done.  I am thinking of cutting down to part time at my current employee so I can work part time elsewhere and eventually just leave my current employee once I see how the land lays elsewhere.  Any insight on this would be greatly appreciated :) ...

Change From Full- Time To Part- Time.
Sep 10, 2012

I am still debating whether to enroll at Andrews or M-TEC.  My husband is retiring in 2 years and I want to be able to work part-time after that.  Is it realistic to think that I can complete the course at Andrews or M-TEC in 12 months at the most, work full time for a year and then part-time after that.  I would want to be able to work from home.  I guess the other question is "How long after graduating could I expect to earn enough to make it worth the investment, in a reas ...

For those who went full time to part-time with MQ (because you got another job)...how did that work?  Did they approve the schedule you wanted, or did they make you take a schedule?  My CCM told me in my area there is no more flexible part-time available but could do regular 24 hour part-time...she said she would have to approve my schedule if and when I do this.  I may be doing two part-time jobs to start and I am trying to figure out how to do my scheduling around both jobs.    Does a ...
