Nuance: From full-time to part-time - I Miss the Old Webmedx

Would anyone be willing to post info on this? I am considering switching to part-time. Wondering how amenable the company is to such requests. If you have done this, were you able to keep same schedule or were you forced into a different schedule? Thanks for any thoughts!

I asked my manager several times to switch from full time to part time but never really got a response on this. He only responds when he wants something from me (OT, help on extra accounts, etc.) and never otherwise. I'm assuming he doesn't really want me to switch to part time and that is why he is avoiding the question.

Good luck. Let me know if you are successful in switching to part time. Maybe I could go over my manager's head and ask someone else?

I would try sending your supervisor another email saying something like:
"I haven't heard back from you regarding my last email. I am interested in switching from full-time to part-time and would like to do so on XX/XX/XXXX. My plan is to work XX hours on _____(specific days of the week). If this won't work, please let me know so we can work out what would be a more mutually agreeable arrangement. Otherwise, I will plan on beginning my new schedule on the above date."

I would also think about cc:-ing someone in HR (assuming you can find their email addresses).

That is a good suggestion. I have already sent him an email with the hours I would like to work (number of hours and days of week) but he just continues to ignore my request. I think the next email I send to him will be my notice that I am leaving (as soon as I can find something else).

I believe I know the "he" that you are referring to here. He is notorious for not responding. You need to find out who is above him and go to that person and copy him in on it. That will kick his a@@ in gear. I'm surprised he's still around to be honest. Not responding is absolutely unacceptable.

I haven't been able to find where to do that. We used to have a link to submit schedule changes on the community page at Webmedx, but that has since disappeared. I couldn't find anything on Webclock for a schedule change, just to request PTO. TIA!

Your only choice now is to print out all the emails you sent him about this, send 1 more stating since you have not heard back after ___ number of emails, it must be fine with him to change your hours and then do it. You have proof he knew your intentions. Hopefully that would CYA.

I just emailed my supervisor and explained that I needed to work part-time for a while and asked if my requested hours were okay. No one had a problem with me switching, and soon I'll be switching back to full-time. Thankfully, all of my supervisors have been really helpful throughout my time at Nuance.

Does anyone care to share that if you are hired at optiscript part time will they let you change to full time easily? I know they are a small company and do not over hire so I do not know how easily this could be done. I am considering a part time position with this company. I just had interview with Softscript and found out that they do not hire any part-time MT's. Here they let me do testing and go to all that trouble and never even looked at my application, where I distinctly siad I wanted only part-time. Just shows how much they look at your application. So I am wondering now if Nuance hires that way. If not then this is probably a waste of time too. Very frustrating that these companies do not let you know up front. ...

I can do it most of the time, but every now and then I miss it, sometimes by as much as 20 lines per hour. I have had 1 email asking that I use my time more productively and make the line count.
