Anyone gone from full-time to part-time with this company? - jojo

I am strongly considering going to part-time, just hoping to get opinions from anyone who has gone from full-time to part-time or opinions from anyone who has just always been part-time. Thanks!

But have'nt worked part-time hours since I've started. Always swamped and CCM sends emails on daily basis asking for OT, mandatory one hour OT for each scheduled day. So with that being said, I have not worked part-time hours since I've started even though I am technically part-time and started out that way.

I think you just have to send an email to your CCM and request going to part-time. You are allowed to change your status once every 12 months. So if it has been 12 months or longer, you should be able to go part-time without a problem.

after having worked for Medquist since 1995. I only went down to 32 hours but am contemplating going to 24 in a few months. 24 is the lowest you can go.

Obviously, you lose insurance benefits (which suck anyway) when you are part time. The other thing is that you will only accrue like 1.5 hours of PTO per PAY PERIOD. This was a huge blow to me, as I went from accuring the max to this. I knew it would be less, but I didn't know it would be THAT much less.

Otherwise, everything else is pretty much the same. You still have to follow a schedule, etc.

Really since they are saving money not paying for crappy insurance onme, you'd think they could spring for a bit more PTO, especially if you produce the required lines for FT work in your PT shift!

That's the only thing that sucks about part time, IMO, is getting only 1 week of PTO per year.

Yes, I was quite unhappy about this. I work only 8 hours less a week than full time and get a quarter of the PTO. AND produce WAY more than is required for FULL time. It's ridiculous.

It has been 6 months since I left transcription completely. My last 9 months or so I had gone to PT (after the FIRST MT reward (AKA-pay cut) in order to pick up more hours at another PT job for more $$$. Fortunately, I had built up so much PTO, and carried over so much from Spheris that it wasn't an issue, (in fact I left with some PTO which I DID get paid for) since I knew I had one foot out the door. About the time they cut my pay again, took away my account of 10 years, my other PT employer was making noises for me to come on board full time... by then the writing was on the wall and I jumped ship. I had an awesome CCM and she allowed me to have a 12-hour window to get my hours in since my other job wasn't always predictable. All-in-all I consider myself most fortunate. Actually I loved the diversity of working both jobs, but I had to "follow the $$$$." It worked for me, hope it works for you.

Does anyone care to share that if you are hired at optiscript part time will they let you change to full time easily? I know they are a small company and do not over hire so I do not know how easily this could be done.
