I TRULY believe getting fired from this Company - is the BEST thing that could happen

Really...in the current situation that this software company disguised as an MTSO is perpetrating on its highly trained MTs..there is no other way out. We can earn min wage elsewhere without the STRESS of 99.5% QA hanging over our head and line counts AND a schedule that is guaranteed.

I am out from this company as well...and now I am FORCED to get off my dead ass, my lack of confidence in my appearance, improve my MS Office software skills (which I am..and I am proud and surprised how easily these programs which used to intimidate me I am easily mastering).

So FIGHT for your UE benefts, go to an employment agency, look into school, hell like I said..the local Walmart pays more without the stress and this truly may be the proverbial open window after the slammed door.

And I say this knowing full well what a crappy crappy thing that this company as well all othe others (bcz they are ALL the same) has done to our profession. We are not nor will we ever be appropriately compensated for our skill...so take your sharp minds, your unsurpassed medical knowledge and see what you can do now. I am too...I promise.

left 5 years ago after 18 years and have NEVER looked back. I see they are up to their same old tricks-huge layoffs with no explanation. It is like sitting at work every day waiting for the ax to fall. I pray for and hope all those terminated can now find a better life! Best to you!

although you too were terminated and you see it as a good thing, others might not feel that way. They might be terrified wondering what they are going to do next. They might have mouths to feed.

but as I stand by my post, i daresay the terminated are making min wage or below with the stress of not knowing what is going to happen next. I submit working for any other min hour job with hours set would be better. But if tears are the preferred support, I can manage bucketfuls

I am most certainly NOT one of them.

The happy MM MTs are getting 6 cpl for ASR and are on consistent accounts with well-trained ASR. These MTs are not the majority, but they've been on this board questioning why the rest of us are just so unhappy, because from their points of view, life is just grand.

To them, those of us who aren't editing 400 lph (to clarify, transcribing 400 lph at 4 cpl because it's faster to transcribe it than edit) are just lazy and obviously not doing our jobs correctly.

I liked your post and agree wholeheartedly. I wonder though, if the dislikes don't stem from your plan to go into Heath Informatics, Epic training -- I could see some taking issue with that, like you've defected to the other side or something.

I am just trying to think of ways to use my medical knowledge. After 20 plus years as an MT..like most of you..I am way just beyond "knows medical terminology." We also understand context, pharmacology, etc. And of course this background does not mean an easy segue into health informatics (an IT degree would REALLY help), but I am looking at the facilitation of the EMR programs, training end users, etc..and I am hoping my comfort with the medical record and medical background proves a plus. I amy very well be deluding myself..but that is my first direction.

Well, I was officially fired yesterday. Up until last summer, I was one of their top producers, never having an accuracy problem. The reason I got fired? I got sick. Early last summer, I let a UTI go for 10 days (lived off Rx strength OTC Pyridium) until I was severely septic and urinating almost pure blood and clots. Isn't it odd that being fired from MQ isn't a disgrace? Being fired from any other place would be total humiliation, but I don't think anybody here would ever look down on another MT who was let go. MQ doesn't discriminate. I was fired. I started with Medquist in 1998. They fired me in 1997. I was hired and Spheris and became a Medquist employee after they bought Spheris. I was fired again today. Has anyone been fired and able to draw unemployment from this ridiculous company? I just can't take it anymore, want to quit, but think if I can somehow draw unemployment that would be great for me. So I've been going back and forth since the beginning of this "safety pay plan" getting around 99.5% to 100% for 2 weeks then falling off the grid at 98% (and once much lower), back on the grid, back off.
