Using Dragon Medical Practice, Version 2 for transcription, coding, billing, editing - is it worth i - ms

It was recently suggested to me that I get Dragon Medical practice Edition, Version 2 for use on transcription, coding, billing and editing. As someone who works from home, I am hoping to investigate the pros and cons of investing in this program and whether its worth it ($1,399.00!!) Does anyone have any experience using this program for transcription, etc who would like to comment? Is it worth the time investment and the money investment? Is the program fairly easy to set up and use ie: load the program, "train" the program to recognize my voice, etc, and then use it to input text into forms, for coding/billing and or editing transcribed documents and transcribing dictation? Is it fairly accurate, or just a cumbersome platform that is still a long way from being a useful tool? (I've seen reviews that praise it to the heavens and those that claim it's a piece of junk.) It seems kind of funny to me that the software one would be using to correct documents is the self same software that produced the documents that need to be corrected in the first place. That's why I'm asking. Does it truly increase production and turn around times?

As far as I can tell from the Nuance website, this is NOT coding or billing software, and even if it was, you would be unable to use it for coding or billing without specialized training.

Who told you to get this? I think they are misguided about what you need, or are selling you a pig in a poke.

You should figure out what kind of work you need to do, THEN consider if this software will support it. It is not intended for MTs. Rather, it is intended for physicians to use directly, i.e., to dictate straight into the EHR, so that they can eliminate MTs altogether. If they are dictating directly into the EHR, why would they contract with you to do it? Where would they dictate it? And how would you know what they said if there is no dictation?

You don't need to purchase the medical version. If your dictionary is large enough (i.e. Stedman's) and you have tons of previously transcribed documents on your system, you can get by with the Professional version.
