Need help, former company has not paid my last two checks - Anon

Posted: Oct 28, 2013

I recently lost my job due to them losing all of their clients. They have not paid me for my last two checks and they are stating that they don't have the money because the clinic did not pay them, but that they would pay me when they had the money. Today when I emailed them to get an update I got an automated response saying this email is no longer valid because the company was closed. I just want to know if there is anything I can do to get my money out of them or will it end up costing me more than what the paychecks are worth? Thanks for any advice!!!

Obviously, step one would be try to call them directly. - if not possible, send registered letter SM

, the letter requiring signature if you can't call, or go there to an actual ofice. Next steps may be calling an attorney in your state, if the company is in your state or other, to see what options you have.

Email can be very easily set up to say whatever someone wants. Don't bother with that anymore, go the phone or postal mail route, then attorney.

Make sure the letter says something to the effect of "if I do not receive a response within 5 business days, my attorney will contact you, etc." then follow up on that if you really want your money.

Also, determine how much money and is it worth it vs fees to go a legal route.

Me? I'd do the legal route just for spite. Too many people skipping out on paying for work done to let it slide.

The reason to use a registered letter is because its contents are valuable. A certified letter with return receipt requested, and to be signed for only by whoever she designates (the owner of the company) would do just as well. The Fraud Division of the Attorney General's office in her state as well as that of the office in which the company does business should receive a complaint. I would also contact both the IRS and the state tax department of whatever state she resides in just to make sure that the company has really been paying her taxes withheld as they should. Just for spite, I would go on Angie's List and Yelp and dis her! I would also out her on this board--what is the name of the company? That way, others will not be sucked into her trap. BTW, it is not the OP's problem that the MTSO is having problems with her bills. If I went to a bank and said "I can't pay my mortgage because I am a little short this month because I had car repairs," do you think they would care? NOT. In short, get tough. These people try to get away with these things because MTs let them. Go after them! Good luck!

I've been waiting 6 weeks for a check - from another IC.

And she hasn't responded to my emails asking when I could expect to see some checks.

I'm tired of getting on in this business. Sorry about the language. I just really need to vent.

No one respects us anymore. I know I deserve better. I have a 24- to 48-hour turnaround time, but I can't even get a RESPONSE after waiting 6 weeks!?!

I truly hope you aren't still working for someone who is this far behind in paying you.

I am, but I am trying to find other work. - .

I've been trying for a few months now to find other (more reliable) employment. It's been a rough road, but I haven't given up.

Go after the clinic directly - this works

They still owe you, you did the work for them, even though a third party. So send them a bill and if they don't pay, sue them in small claims court. This is what any man would do, a plumber working for a contractor who did not pay him for example, would go after the homeowner. It is the same principle, we need to start thinking and behave like businessMEN! Which means, among other things, they would not accept work that did not provide them with enough money to live on. But we women have created this mess for ourselves. And the only way for it to stop is to stop accepting this.

Min Wage Paid By MT Company
Oct 14, 2013

I was told last year when I worked (briefly) for an MT company that we had to clock out if we had an out of work situation because, technically, we were employees of that company which meant we had to be paid never less than min wage. Now I find myself working for that same company again, and a bunch of us are just about to get our first production pay checks from them, and I want to know if everyone out there who is pay by production at an MT company is getting paid AT LEAST min wage? I finally cut ties with the Q after being returning to work for them and finding them not to be the company they once were or the pay was not the same.  After careful consideration and finding another position, I resigned.  Awaiting my pay out from my PTO and being told it would be deposited today, nada.   Anyone have any idea about this?  Will this be sent as a final check or did I get the royal kick in the you know where and will not see that PTO payout. Background Checks

Does anyone know if companies typically call your former employers for background checks?  I have jumped around a lot in the last several years for various reasons, and still looking for the right fit, but have applied to 10 different companies in 2 weeks and have only heard from 2. WEEKLY Q/A Checks
Dec 03, 2014

During the video presentation, she said we would now have weekly QA checks.  This means, in essence, that you can type all week with less than 10% QC submission, and a great QA score, and have it ruined with just 1 critical error, which typically gives you a QA score of under 89% if it is a report with less than 30 lines.  Then it would be a cut in pay because your converted (lower) lines would be multipled by 7 cents, yes all of the lines.  I don't know about you, but if I h ...
