Have you ever had a new job "in the bag" that fell through? - MT

Posted: Dec 19, 2011

Today a job that I had high hopes for and my heart set on -- that had been offered to me -- unfortunately fell through today.

Have this ever happened to you?  If so, what happened?

I am still very upset but will post my story after reading the others.  Maybe mine won't be too bad by comparison so I'll feel better.

I had one offered on a Friday and waiting for start up stuff, only to hear FINALLY on Monday that they had over hired.

Then there is the job that I started and was promised plenty of work, apparently VERY nice manager... pfft.. read my posts on the company board about response to them

I can relate. sm - MT2

I had a job I was just sure I had. Tested fine, first interview great, second interview even better. I have 40 years experience and it was a QA job, with which I have a lot of experience. I was all geared up and they said they found someone else. I was just shattered. But the good thing is, I just kept looking and I found something better!!! I wish the sme for you!

yes. A scary place it was. - sm

I was/am the sole wage earner for the family. We were moving across country. I had a job lined up at a rural hospital where we were to move, a promised job for about 6 months. Kept in contact with this hospital frequently. Our farm was going up for auction (huge job to get ready) and about 2 wk before the auction/move, in another phone call to the hospital, they informed me, oh, by the way, "we got some new equipment, so we don't need you anymore." I didn't know what to do. The house we were moving to had no other hospitals in reasonable driving distance. Then I remembered hearing about jobs where people worked on-line and I floundered around on daughter's graduation present/computer getting lost on the internet (totally new to me) but scrambled to find information about companies. Long story short, I too found a better deal than the in-house jobs, working on line. I too hope that as one door is closed for you, a better one opens wide!!

I had what sounded like a really job offer, an abundance of work, working on the Emdat/Inscribe platform, and a good CPL by today's standards. Unfortunately, when I read through the paperwork about what was required to "come on board," my sudden moment of joy and happiness turned to major disappointment. The job required the MTs to have a DBA certificate/Business License in your state, and to purchase a digital encryption for your E-mail account. First of all, I do not have the time or the money to apply for a business license and I do not have the money to purchase a digital encryption. Needless to say, I had to decline the job.

Fell For It....
Nov 11, 2011

Well, I fell for it hook, line, and sinker.  Saw the ad on MT Jobs.  Did the pre-evaluaiton test for the company called Cognition Health Partner.  It even had my hometown as their location so I jumped on it.  Then when I finished the test and the message said I did not meet minimum score and then a recommendation to receive more training and a suggestion to try Career Step, I knew I had been fooled.  I thought it was too good to be true that a transcrpition company was a ...

This is the first time on this new pay plan that I've fallen below 99%.  I have had two reports audited so far.  Usually I have three or four, so maybe there is still hope.  The two reports I have had audited each had a tiny 0.25 point error -- enough to drop me down to a 98.75!!  ~sigh~ ...
