Did anyone see the home makeover with Ty Pennington Sunday night? The makeover was for a medical transcriptionist. She got a gorgeous house and the bank paid off her mortgage!

Yes, I saw it, her house was beautiful. Too bad she had to lose her husband to get the makeover. She was doing some wonderful work with COPS helping other families that have lost someone in the line of duty as she did. It was nice they also started the schlorship fund for her girls and the children of the other officer that was also killed. I kinda felt sorry for the other widow, but maybe her house was in better shape or maybe she and her husband had insurance that paid off her mortgage when he died.

how in the world did she get off all that time to go on vacation and then when she got back home? Nah, just kidding and then Ushery is from my home town also. I was turning the channel and saw Clarksville and started watching. Good show. Good for her!

I always wonder how these people get all that time off, LOL.

Even if my house was getting a full makeover and given a fully paid "vacation", I wouldn't be able to take it because I'd still have bills that need to be paid once everything's said and done!

This MT with the makeover only worked part time as MT. And with her mortgage paid for, she probably did not have any major bills. She probably gets some sort of pension from her late husband as well as the kids getting pension type aid.

Warning - negative post.....I used to watch the show regularly - thought it was great - until it came to a "town near you." From this experience, it was all local contractors, local money, and local volunteers that worked very, very, very hard to get it done - and when it was done and the cameras left town, there wasn't even a thank you to the ones who worked so hard. It does alot to boost a community, but left a bad taste in the mouth. It was for a very deserving family, but the money and volunteer effort could have been used more wisely and benefited more people in more ways. That was just how it was here.

I think if for a deserving family then the work alone - was their thanks

You do acts of kindness from your heart, not because you want a thanks or someone to acknowledge "what" you have done. I many times behind the scenes contribute to things that talk to my heart, do not need a thanks and that is the way it should be.

Was laid off in April. Have a couple offers from transcription companies, and one from a clinic which is part of a huge school/hospital system in our area, (which actually is through a temp agency). There are only 2 full-time NP's and a handlful of part-time NP's. The hospital job is a 45-minute drive, 1-way, in light traffic. I have been an MT for the past 17 years; I have loved the job but this profession is really going down the tubes as far as pay and keeping up with the cost of living. Becoming pretty much inactive, get up, login and work. Get off, turn on the TV and lay down or maybe spend a few hours on your favorite website. As far as making meals, they are far and few between because you eat in between working, breaks or just grab something totally unhealthy when you get off. I found a posting board that listed employees complaints about HD. I'm not going there to work. I don't want to get involved in it. It's very very murky there. Love my job as an at-home MT and love working from home, but that set aside, I think we can all agree that if you're looking to make good money, this is likely not the profession to pursue anymore. So I saw this ad in one of my magazines, August issue:Train at home to Work at Home . . . Be a Medical Transcriptionist . . . Earn up to $40,000 a year. . .
