Transolutions STAR team - 7DayMT

Posted: Oct 24, 2009

They asked me to test... I did look at archives and see the usual some people love it, some hate it.  Any recent comments on the STAR team? Is that being a floater, helping out on multiple accounts?  Maybe like specials team at Spheris...

don't pay for spaces & VR. I will NEVER work for no spaces - .

this is reply I got from Mr. Arnold

All of our Medical Language specialists are required to do a combination of transcription and voice recognition. Spaces are not paid for, but we do have a 55 character line with no spaces.

STAR Team - me

It means you get all the crappy dictators.

Well, I'll be, that is what I thought but did not post it. - .

My first thought was "Star Team"
uh huh, done to boost the ego and make you think, HEY I am on the STAR TEAM, geez. Bullllll

so when it says "up to 13 cpl" in the job description, it means transcribing all the worst dictators from multiple accounts on the 3rd shift?
star team - yep that is what is means - me

I've actually seen in their postings for Star Team that you get the most challenging ESL dictators. 13 cpl doesn't sound bad, even with horrible dictators, depending on what the required line production requirement is. I like a challenge, but I sure wouldn't want to do crappy dictators all day long, even for 13 cpl.
did something like that before - 7DayMT

at Spheris. There were 4-5 accounts on the team. Sometimes it meant working on the account that had the crappiest dictators, and once in a while an unfamiliar and bad account from another team, but often meant working on the team's good accounts, all at a higher base rate, so generally it was a good thing But the worst dictators all the time, I don't know about that..

Re: STAR Team - TS MT

You actually only get 13 cpl if you work 3rd shift. Star team means you go to any account they need you to be on. I work for TS but personally would not do Star team, but that's just me.

Have you worked that team? What is expected line count? That one & in general? - .

What time are you give to accomplish it. Are there sample reports?

You are constantly bounced around MANY accounts! - Ex-Star

You aren't given enough time to get proficient on the account before you are put on another account, and you are constantly bounced from account to account....sometimes 3 or more in a given day. High expectations and very high stress level. There is a bonus rate for the higher lines you do so I'm sure the 13 cpl is only when you work the worst shift and reach very high line count for the pay period. Some people are great at it, but if you are one that needs time to get to know the dictators before you can be very fast (minimum 150 lph), then it is not worth it.

Good luck with your decision. The company does have nice PTO, but I would recommend staying with or starting as regular even though the money isn't as good per line.

Thanks!!, that is what I thought, wanted it confirmed - .

For me, 150 lines an hour is hard enough, all depends on what junk expected to put together,
but, on top of "recognized" bad dictators "what is wrong with their thinking" Number crunchers, no idea we really are not machines but highly skilled humans. Makes me sad, depressing.

They ought be glad anybody would even take it on. No time to learn each dictator style to get an "ear" what are they thinking. Thought I MIGHT attempt, but not now and I DO believe what you say too. Glad I asked and you answered.

You're very welcome! We've got to stick together and help each other! - Ex-Star

I hesitated to even say anything because I know everyone has different experiences. I've never been a very high producer and focus more on quality (not to mention being a full-time working mom of three kids), but I got talked into the STAR Team during my first day of training. I was coming from a job where I had worked for five years and had been paid by the word, so it was really hard for me to compare just how many lines I could do in an hour. I asked the recruiter and others, but their best guess was that 150 lines per hour was average of so many minutes (can't remember for sure now but I think 18-20) of dictation an hour, and I was reaching that no problem at my previous job so I thought it would be a breeze. However, I had been working on the same three accounts for those five years, which made a huge difference. Anyway, it was a huge nightmare for me being bounced around constantly. I would just get into my groove and start reaching the lines, and bam, I'd be moved to another account and had to start all over. But, like I said, others on the ST just soared with it and did very well. I, unfortunately, was not one of them. The lady in charge of the ST was very nice, but she soon lost patience with my inability to reach the minimum of 150 lines an hour. LOL - She even suggested I seek counseling or something --- like it was ALL me and had nothing to do with the stress level of constantly changing around before getting to really know the dictators. I'll admit by the time I left I was a basketcase and really could have used some counseling, but it sure wasn't totally my fault.

Best of luck to you and God bless :)
Yuck, I can tell, not for me, they don't look at MTs as living beings - .
[ In Reply To ..]
Counselling, geez, always blame the other side and who knows what the other MTs were dealing with.

I actually think if you can hit a number, they will give you whatever (thus made easier). I recall working at MQ and calling the Dig Room, as it was called, and was asked, "which reports/dictators did I want assigned."
so, I know it IS done and in that case, if the stressors are cut to a very minimum and get good this-or-that and none of this-of-that, one might be doing great or greater. Things are rarely equal.

It was not YOU, it was them and probably a non-MTer (was speaking to you) or one out of the mainstream MTing for a long while.

UNRULY, DISGRUNTLED MTS ON MT STAR

I have to tell you all this because I think it's funny.  We had a conference call with our CCM a while back and one of the MTs made the comment off-hand that some of the comments made on MT Stars were horrendous.  Apparently she was a new employee.  LOL.  My CCMs replay was simply "Well, everyone needs a place to rant occasionally."  LOL.  ...

Job Offer From Transolutions
Jun 09, 2010

I have a job offer from Transolutions, but I have a couple of questions.   I use Instant Text and I need to know if their platform is compatible with it.  This would definitely be a dealbreaker for me.   The opinions of the company I read on this board were not very favorable -- slow speech rec program,  too much speech rec, etc.  But all the opinions were at least 2 years old.  Is there any more current information out there?   The pay scale is very enticing, but if the ...

Transolutions Few Positions Available
Jun 02, 2011

When I spoke with the recruiter, it sounded like there were just a few positions available. Yet, another recruiting ad showed up on Tuesday evening at another major MT recruiting website. So, I'm wondering, is the recruiter using the old trick of sounding like I'd better jump and grab one of those "few" positions, or did a bunch of people who were already hired suddenly quit? I wonder why Transolutions has had so many recruiting ads lately. Again, I was told that there were only ...

How Are Things At Transolutions These Days?
