Help! I just was accepted with a co. that pays 3CPL - me

for editing and 8CPL for regular transcription, though they say it's 95% editing. The interviewer said this was the going rate. REALLY? Should I hold out and find a higher editing rate? How do you make more than minimum wage with that?

I thought 4 cpl was the going rate. - Going to be hard to make dollars

Sometimes we have to make a stand. If you know what your average lines per hour for editing is on numerous platforms, can you make a living wage at 3 cents per line? At 300 lines per hour, it would equal to 9 dollars an hour. Is that all you are worth? I doubt it.

These companies keep using the "it's the going rate" excuse for terrible pay rates. It just has to stop.

Best wishes in finding something better. It takes a lot of applications and digging, but there are places that pay more than this. I don't think anyone is paying enough for editing, as I truly believe on most platforms the rate should be the same as transcription. Just my opinion. I seem to have run into just terrible platforms.

I would let them know that is insulting. 4 cents is the going rate for VR, and that is pretty bad.

I would not accept anything less than 4 cpl for editing; 3 is just an insult and it would be nearly impossible to make a decent living at that rate. Unless you are in a situation were you desperately need a job, I would hold off. You should have no problem finding a company that pays at least 4 cpl for editing.

If you don't want it, send me the details. - In a bad situation right now.

Oh my goodness, that is horrible. Pretty soon they are going to be asking us to pay them for the privilege of being able to do their work. I hope neither of you have to take this job but I understand something is better than nothing, and unfortunately the services do too!!

When I was looking to change companies months ago I didn't even apply anywhere that quoted less than the 4/8. As long as these places that try to "cheapen" you can get people to agree to 3 cpl or 3.5 cpl they'll do it and pocket the difference.

I understand what you mean. You can't really make minimum wage at that rate even working 42 hours a week.

4-5 cpl as an employee is the going rate for VR. More if it's IC status... - They are getting too greedy!! nm

someone posted where the school told her she could make 20,000 a year in MT. So, divided that by .03 and then I divided that by 365 days which is 7 days/week working and got about 1826 lines rounded off a day for production to make 20,000 a year. Is anybody doing this. Is this really possible? Is there an MTSO that has 1826 lines for you to type 7 days a week? What is the average production in lines, now? Daily. Trying to see what I'm doing ...

Because I need my job I bite hard everyday to continue with MQ. Being an MME is horrible when you are paid 3 cpl to full listen ILP. I get paid more to ME my own ASR reports which take me sometimes just as long. Each time the situation is mentioned on how unfair it is to only get 3 cpl to full listen ILP reports we are always told that it really isn't that many reports....funny I did over 90 of them in a pay period and they aren't short reports ever always long... ...

I keep reading posts about companies that pay 5 or 6 cpl for VR but where are these companies posting their job ads? I have 13 years of experience as an MT and my hands are sore and ache with all of the straight typing. I would love to make 5 or 6 cpl for VR not 3 or 4 cpl for VR!!!!!!
