Ok, here goes.... MQ pays better VR rate than some other companies - 9 / .054 cpl VR (Flame away)

Transcend offered me 8.5 cpl with 30 years experience and - 4.5 cpl VR with over 70% ESL

and all work types. The recruiter would not even negotiate. Needless to say, I chose MedQuist.

MDI vs. MQ rates - guess I made a mistake

Yes, and it's so sad to think I left MQ to go to MDI, and now MDI is offering me 9 cents straight typing at 4 cents VR. At MQ I was at 9 cents straight and 6 cents VR. Left because I wanted to be MDI statutory rather than MQ employee. Fat lotta good that did me!

If you made 9 cents at MQ and 6 cents VR, well MQ changed VR pay. You must have worked at MQ before the change in VR rate pay.

Now if you work at MQ, your VR pay rate would be at 0.0540 instead of 6 cents and that is going by your 9 cents straight typing at MQ. Plus MQ VR sucks big time. Cannot get one complete sentence correct. I am changing words about every 2-3 words I come across. Plus, MQ WILL NEVER, NEVER GET THE DRUG "ATIVAN" right if my life depended on it. I betcha MQ VR has come up with 30 different ways to state Ativan, like "Add a van", "At a pan", or "At a band", etc. Never, never have I ever come across MQ VR with the correct drug name, Ativan. I bet MDI is a whole lot better for VR work.

It doesn't matter what your line rate is if you get NJA all the time. - nm

so even thought they pay a teensy bit more, you end up worse off in the long run because it's so much more time consuming to fix.

CPL isn't everything. I work 2 jobs, 1 at MQ, the other at a smaller company. I get 1 CPL less at my second job and I make 2-3 times more money at that job. The account is much easier. There are no ESL dictators, compared to 100% at MQ account, the ASR is better, the audio is better. I get paid for headers, demos, copies, etc. BTW.... I also have actual WORK at my second job instead of the constant NJA at MedQuist.

I keep reading posts about companies that pay 5 or 6 cpl for VR but where are these companies posting their job ads? I have 13 years of experience as an MT and my hands are sore and ache with all of the straight typing. I would love to make 5 or 6 cpl for VR not 3 or 4 cpl for VR!!!!!!
