equivalent to about 1 cpl as an employee with benes. Do you realize how many reports you'd have to do to even make minimum wage?!

Don't get mixed up with this thinking, meaning, Welll, Hey, even so and so pays such and such, I will take that then SO THERE. Nope, none of those rates, 2., 2.5, 3, 3,4,5, are acceptable on top of an already low industry rate of 7 8 8.5 etc. If MTs accept it, THIS becomes the industry standard people.

If their low rates are not accepted, YOU are changing the industry standard. Get it.

All these sleazy MT companies need to be OUTED !!! - And not just on this forum.

Their lying to, cheating line counts on, and paltry payment of American workers needs to be written about over and over again, anywhere and everywhere. And not just a big, generic story about "The MT Industry", but MTs' personal struggles to make it in this field with the way those people do business. Let's face it - a large portion of owners and management of MTSOs belong IN PRISON.

My salary has gone down by 3/4 since the late 90s. Work by the hour, but no raise in nearly 3 years with the company, yet they hire new employees at more than I make. Went with a second one part time and they offered 1.80 per report. I asked if these were full listens and they said no, mostly blanks with a "few" full listens. Been there a month now, get maybe 1% blanks, the rest are full listens and I'm making 4-5 an hour on these very long 100% reports with giving feedback, plus running out of work non stop. I don't get it, I really don't.

Ladies and gents, I am hoping to find an employer that will pay a flat line rate for both editing of SR and transcription. Does anyone know of anyone that is doing that? This business of being paid 2 different line rates makes it impossible to forecast earnings and is causing a huge headache for me. I am thinking a flat in the 7 cpl to 8 cpl would be something I would consider. I cannot believe I am saying that - 10 years ago I was working in a great hospital job making 12 cpl. My, my, how ...

someone posted where the school told her she could make 20,000 a year in MT. So, divided that by .03 and then I divided that by 365 days which is 7 days/week working and got about 1826 lines rounded off a day for production to make 20,000 a year. Is anybody doing this. Is this really possible? Is there an MTSO that has 1826 lines for you to type 7 days a week? What is the average production in lines, now? Daily. Trying to see what I'm doing ...

Because I need my job I bite hard everyday to continue with MQ. Being an MME is horrible when you are paid 3 cpl to full listen ILP. I get paid more to ME my own ASR reports which take me sometimes just as long. Each time the situation is mentioned on how unfair it is to only get 3 cpl to full listen ILP reports we are always told that it really isn't that many reports....funny I did over 90 of them in a pay period and they aren't short reports ever always long... ...

I understand that everything is going to the way of the editor and not typing, but when the editor keeps missing whole sentences or makes up words that sound nothing like the doctor is saying, how is one supposed to make any money? I only get paid .04 per line to edit and I am spening more time trying to fix editing mistakes than I would if I just erase the text and type it out. Very frustrating. Thank God my husband has a good paying job, otherwise I would have to find another ...

I work for a company that uses M*Modal for VR and all the reports have SO much editing. There are complete words missing, words added that clearly aren't being dictated, at least 2 words on each line that have to be edited. I'm doing so much more work for less pay than I was straight typing everything. This is the only editing I've done so I don't know if this is normal for editing or if M*Modal just sucks! So, last week the system went down right as I was finishing up an extremely long job. When it finally came back up, there was another glitch and before I could hit "recover", the job sent to the hospital as I originally got it with no editing whatsoever! The hospital got in touch with Medquist EXTREMELY upset and in turn I got an e-mail wondering why that happened. I am new to Escript, as well as VR editing. I find it to be VERY time consuming and crappy pay at $0.04. That being said, I am lucky to make $10 an hour, if that. In addition, you have to be on your toes, as it seems like at least one word in a sentence is incorrect. For example today, one report stated, "testis Cardiolite stress test."
