Anyone else at Transcend not making any money? - sm

I've been at Transcend now since Dec 20th. My line counts are pathetic. It's not because of lack of work. No, it is speed. I cannot get any speed at all. For my hours, I have made less than min wage. When working on Editscript, I got a lot more lines per hour than this, 250-400 editing according to the dictator but never under 250. On BeyondTXT it is way below that, not exactly sure how much. It was 180 but it has went down instead of up. It has went down to the point of not making min wage even. I don't know what to do. Anyone else there having this issue?

My editing rate is about 350, sometimes higher, just occasionally a bit lower, usually when I'm on a learning curve for a new account and dictators I'm learning. I'm consistently about 350, though. Four of my five accounts need a lot of editing, too. Are you utilizing all of the shortcut keys for both editing and doing demographics? I never touch my mouse, not even when entering patient demographics. I use shortcut keys for everything and zip through it. Take the time to learn them. It's slow at first but speeds you up in the end. Are you also utilizing shortcut keys for internet searches? I use these (including alt tab, alt home, then type search words) to maneuver from page to page in my task bar. One of the ways to become a proficient editor is to utilize these and learn/find ways you never have to touch your mouse. You may already be doing this, but it's just a suggestion, something I found extremely productive. I wish you the best! Donna

The accounts I have right now would go a lot faster if I was transcribing them and not editing. Too much fixing and moving things around going on and then when they use canned text they are so confused about what they are doing - oh brother!

This is the worst I have very done in my over 20 years. This editing on BeyondTXT is the pits and then one of the higher ups has the nerve to say it is easy to make the minimum, she knows as she was a transcriptionist, well I say, when we WERE transcriptionists it was, I did double this minimum on a daily basis with ALL my other companies as a 'transcriptionist' but as an 'editor' here, there is no way!

Because I work at Transcend, as well. I have, without a doubt, some of the very worst dictators in the entire company. They are so lazy, they will not even state the MR#, patient name, any DEMOS, which means it has to go to QA. Only they don't want anything going to QA because it "looks bad". If you go too fast on the editing, it screws up the SR and knocks it out of whack or locks up the system. If you go to slow, you don't make minimum. I try to get the basic format completely out of the way first before starting to edit, just so I do not have to stop too often. It is quite a struggle to get a good rhythm going. The last time a manager told me they were an editor and could easily do this, I challenged them to work on my accounts, with the same pressure, same demands, constantly having someone look over their shoulder for about 6 to 8 months, work 50-60 hours a week and let ME review their work for quality. Needless to say, they immediately changed the subject. I really hope things get better for you...very, very difficult to work through this.

It's been hard for me to make the average line counts as I've been put on so many different accounts waiting for mine to go live and then it never did. Now I'm being told I may have to go to part time...grrr.. Oh and I don't understand how to figure out the time worked and logging it into TimeSaver. I was told I'm not getting enough hours but I'm working 40 hours plus a week, but if you enter your time in TimeSaver you aren't supposed to log in time that you were researching things or reading the thousand emails they send you in a day. whew!

I know exactly what you mean. I worked 40+, still could not make the required lines for FT; so, I got bumped back to PT. I think it is purposely rigged. I move from acct to acct to get what I need. Have a fairly good idea when my accts are going to load after all this time; so, that is helping me plan my work better. I keep as low a profile as possible and only email someone if I have absolutely no recourse. I really feel for everyone because Transcend was touted as the second coming to us, and it has been anything but. One assbite pain after another; sitting as much as we do, you know how that can slow our production.....LOL.

After reading everybody's comments at least I know I am not alone in this. I also have been doing MT work for over 25 years and all specialties. I have done lots of ESL as well but never as bad as these guys, I swear. I have mostly straight typing and cannot half of what these really bad ESLs say, much less trying to reference an MD when they have copies going to everybody. I search by last name, first name, specialty and still cannot get it.

I have no idea what my line count is, as I have been told and do not know how to find it. I do know what my VR line count is and it hovers about 200 on BeyondTXT. It was over 350 at another job using escription. I feel like I type and type and type and never get any lines!!!! What's up with that.

I used to get reports in the 80s, 90s and 100s and now am lucky if a report is 55 lines!!! All of this makes no sense and it is very annoying to say the least.

I am curious to the person who says she has over 300 lph in VR, how? I mean, don't you ever NOT understand words or MD names given? I have been on 3 accounts since late September and am not making it. Run out of work a lot also and keep asking but never seems to happen.

If anyone could email me with any tips I would sure appreciate it. I just cannot afford to lose ths job and frankly do not have the energy to look for another.

I'm having that problem. I have never been able to keep my count above $900 a pay period. Very disconcerting considering the fact that this is supposed to be faster than straight typing. Minimum wage indeed! Something needs to be done about how much we are paid per line, but that's just wishful thinking. I'm making $300 less than when I was typing - per pay period!! Can't make ends meet. I run out of money a week after I get paid after bills and groceries. This is pathetic.

I make half of my transcription pay when I edit. I always prided myself on my expansive short cuts and ability to type fast. I left another big company years ago when this cut in pay first started for editing and wrote an extremely long letter of resignation explaining why. Doesn't make any difference anymore. Transcriptionists/editors don't seem willing to fight and 1-2 cannot do it alone.

I keep seeing MTs saying they make more on UE than at work. Isn't your UE based on what you made prior to applying for UE? If you make say $400 a week before UE, then UE would be a smaller percentage than $400 a week to the best of my knowledge. I never thought you would make even as much on UE let alone more. I have been doing about half and half, VR and straight transcription for the past three months - is anybody making any money doing this? My line rate, of course, is half of my regular transcription rate (like that is fair, right?). My account went to VR a few months ago. The docs who cannot do VR because they cannot talk worth a crap still have to be typed. The best part is, instead of making 10 cpl, we now get paid 6 cpl to do it. Basically, I am now making what I made about 11 or 12 years ago. I was wondering, is anybody making any money at all on voice? I keep hearing just minimum or maybe a little more. I call minimum wage 7.50 to 8.00 an hour. My experience with it was at one point I was told that I hadn't made enough for minimum and they had to do make-up pay. So how is everybody's experience with voice? Ok, finally, the horrors have happened to me. All was well, but now I'm getting seriously pissed. I work 8 hour shifts 5 days a week. Those hours are mandatory. I've had the same line rate (9 cpl) for 5 years, and I notice the new accounts they offer MTs pay 7.5 or 8 cpl at most.
