Because technology is advancing. the hospitals in my area and one other MT company I worked with has already seen this. these hospitals are going to a system where they just pick their PE like Heent: atraumatic blah blah blah. They don't dictate, they just pick and choose.
Then cannot do that for op notes. So therefore we are still needed whether it is VR or straight typing. It is out there and a very scary thought. The only safety net we have is that the system is very very expensive.
For your own job securities, you need to learn the harder dictation types. Oncology, Op notes, Cardiology... the more you do them, the better versatile you are. It pays off.
