I have this hint that normally helps me: “lie, lay, lain” (to recline); “lay, laid, laid” (to place or put down).
The sentence is: "The patient was brought into the endoscopy suite and 'laid' in the left decubitus position." I was thinking it should be lain, but the patient was technically "put" in that position, so it should be laid. Correct? I've gone and confused myself.
