Layoffs curious if the ones laid off - Sqt

got an email from amy about all mt meeying on april 17?. i got that email and 20 minutes later board was full of talks of layoffs. just wondering if i got the email because im safe or if everyone got it

....whether people who were laid off did NOT get the email about the all-MT meeting. In other words, if one did get the email, does that mean that you still have a job.

I quit M*Modal last year, so I can only say this hypothetically; but if I was still there and even if I did still have a job after this week, I wouldn't be wasting any time looking for a different job. It would be hard because, in view of the layoffs, maybe there will be more work available now for the ones still there; but I couldn't, in good conscience, work for a company that operates like MM does, in an industry that's so volatile. In fact, that's why I quit last year!

I'm really very sorry for those going through this; I know how rough it is from being laid off myself, in the past. Wishing you all the best.

Just happened to re-read my post, and I see that one tiny word makes a big difference! I shouldn't have said, "I wouldn't waste any time looking for a different job." What I meant was, "I wouldn't waste any time IN looking for a different job."

Of course I meant that I would start looking for a different job NOW, even while I was still working for M*Modal. My smart fellow MTs probably realized that, but I still thought I should clear that up!

I got the e-mail and opened it at 8:00 and was laid off at 11:00. Everyone got the e-mail I imagine as we were all still on her e-mail list.

I can just hear her talking about streamlining and making the company more cost efficient and growing our ILP. Makes you wonder what the numbers ended up being after first quarter and whether the shareholders and JPMC were disappointed. The easiest way to increase profits is to reduce the work force.

We all know they eliminated the 401K match until December so it would only make sense they eliminate as many people as possible before then. This very well may be only the beginning of layoffs. We know the work isn't picking up.

Unless I missed something, no one has said if there were specific regions where many MTs were laid off. Perhaps MM is going about this region by region. I know this board is consumed right now about the layoffs but I have question. HAD to call Support yesterday and today, and was told that I cannot change my password in Ipswitch. Think I will get the proverbial axe on Monday or Tuesday - Tuesday should be the first day of my new pay period according to my schedule. I was laid off April 4th. Supervisor was sorry she had to make the call as there was no problem with my work. Well, it's official. I just got the call that I am officially laid off! I am glad that what I knew was inevitable has finally happened so I can move forward, but at the same time can't help grieving over the loss of what once was a career that I loved and was good at.
