and now some are calling it a hoax. I have spent most of the day talking to UE and my states Food Share Program. Working from home for so long, I wanted to share my news with my fellow MTs. I thought they would understand how I felt. I appreciated some of the MTs wishing me luck, but I am surprised and sad to see that so many have become so "cold" that they can't even open their minds and believe someone. I still wish all MTs the best of luck. I will be fine. Even, at my age, they can't get me down.

I am so sorry this has happened. My husband was just recently laid off for the same reason. He had always been a great performer and was always given a raise every year. Five years on the job, highest paid person in that job, and he was the first to go. A person who just started was not let go, just him and another person who had been there several years.

You are definitely not to blame for this. Please keep reminding yourself that you are good at what you do. Don't let these negative people get you down.

This is so sad and so scary. No one should have to go through this especially since we were assured that this would not be happening. If our work is going to India, then bring the work back to us before laying off US MTs. The quality and work ethic you have makes you a very high asset but it seems that is not important to them at all. This is just so terrible. No warning, no thought to the situation or anything. How convenient for them. I wonder what you are going to do? Please share your experience as it seems many of us will be affected by this sooner than later.

There is nothing about the posts from those of you that were laid off that would lead me to believe there was some kind of hoax going on. I truly don't understand the mindset of some of the people who post here. I can't even imagine what you must be feeling right now, and I wish you the best of luck in finding another job. I hope you find something fantastic that turns this into a positive experience for you.

This board has the same heartless people who call liar or troll just because they haven't experienced the same thing. What makes it more unbelievable is you weren't the only one to post. Again, sorry this happened to you, but hopefully this negative somehow turns out to be a positive. Good luck in the future!

I just received a call at 6:30pm that I am laid off as well. Supposedly a business decision to combine all part time jobs with full time jobs. Sounds like they are going to get rid of ALL part time. My manager seemed very upset.

I was told the exact same thing when I received my call at 4:00 p.m this afternoon.....all part-time jobs are going to be gone when they are finished making their calls. They want to have enough work for their full-time employees so they can get their hours for their benefits.

I'm so sorry you lost your job, but know your pain. I cannot believe that just out of the blue I got the call today! I guess in the back of my mind I kind of knew it was coming with the changing of schedule, etc. I do wish you and all of us who were laid off today the best of luck. Just think of it as a door closing and another one opening....soon I'm hoping! Best of luck to each and every one of us!

Lee, I was let go today too. I do understand how you feel. It was not my job performance or my work ethic either. I am a single mom trying to support her kids, and to lose my job with no warning and for no reason is very traumatic. I will miss being an MT so much as I loved my job, but I don't know whether I can take the risk of working in this field anymore. I think the reaction of other MTs here is unexcuseable and sad. You are so right. You and me and everyone else that this happened to deserves respect and understanding. Good luck to you, Lee, and you and the others will be in my prayers as we move on. To those of you who somehow feel we deserved this, just remember how you treated others if it happens to you.

I do not work for M*Modal, but just wanted to extend my sympathy to you and your colleagues for all that has happened today. In no way was this your fault or the fault of any other MT there; my heart just breaks for all of you. I am saddened by the turn this industry has taken and am glad I am 70 and not 27! I wish I had it in my power to do something for you all. This is capitalism and greed at its worst. Please know that there are those of us out here who really are empathetic with what has happened. I hope you can find something soon.

I was laid off today too. I have been with the company for 8 years. I consistently make my quota by a long shot, at over 375 lph. I had my audit a month ago at 99.3%. Well, it's official. I just got the call that I am officially laid off! I am glad that what I knew was inevitable has finally happened so I can move forward, but at the same time can't help grieving over the loss of what once was a career that I loved and was good at. I have this hint that normally helps me: “lie, lay, lain” (to recline); “lay, laid, laid” (to place or put down). The sentence is: "The patient was brought into the endoscopy suite and 'laid' in the left decubitus position." I was thinking it should be lain, but the patient was technically "put" in that position, so it should be laid. Correct? I've gone and confused myself. ...

I have heard that their transcription and editing platforms -- Escription will work with satellite internet. I know I am not the only one who could no longer work at Nuance due to only having satellite internet. I was working for awhile at my daughter's home, but that did not work out too well due to house overrun by all the kids and their friends.
