Care to elaborate on some things.  I'm trying to figure out a pattern to the layoffs.  

When were you let go?

What tier level?

Higher end of tier pay or lower end?

What region?

How many hours?

Was it a state that they had to pay up to 4 hours?

There has to be a pattern to all of this, and it could help those of us hanging by a thread.

I was told that it was due to not enough work for the full-time transcriptionists. I was a Tier 3/high end and terminated immediately today. I was hired as part-time flex, SE region. I worked only Fri, Sat and Sun.

When were you let go? March 7 (Thursday!!) What is it with Thursdays?

What tier level? 3

Higher end of tier pay or lower end? Don't know - same as everybody else 4.5 and 8.

What region? North

How many hours? 24 (precisely, exactly - did not do any OT)

Was it a state that they had to pay up to 4 hours? ??Don't know

They are closing shop in the US. That's it. Don't fight it. Just find another job, go back to school, network with other people, but please prepare.

Trying to figure this poop out will just drive you crazy, so think of the rest of your life as an opporunity for change. You'll enjoy the change after a while.

I don't recall any full timers being terminated. It seems very weird though since most companies are getting rid of full time and hiring all part time to avoid paying benefits.

I don't think just because you are full time you are safe from lay off.
I haven't really seen any full timers post they were - laid off. What is your source?

It just seems from all of the posts they are being told that part-timers are being let go, both this time and the last two times it has happened, according to this board.

Do you have another source that full timers are being laid off as well?

I don't doubt it. Personally, I think the only row of US employees that will be left standing are full time MME, which is why I took the test last spring.

Not sure about layoffs that are happening now but back when the last round happened, there were quite a few full time MT's laid off. Try to check back posts
I was full time and terminated. You may be correct about MME, but - know plenty of them who were terminated. Good ones

Higher end of tier pay or lower end? I WAS AT 7.75 PER LINE AND 4 FOR ASR.

What region? NORTH

How many hours? I WAS WORKING 24 HOURS A WEEK WITH A SPLIT SHIFT 3 DAYS DURING DAYTIME HOURS AND MIDDLE OF THE WEEK WORKING 6-10 PM (NO WEEKENDS WHICH I THINK DID ME IN).

Was it a state that they had to pay up to 4 hours? NO

JUST A LITTLE TIDBIT, MY SUPERVISOR I WORKED FOR JUST GAVE HER NOTICE AND IS LEAVING THE END OF THE MONTH. GUESS THAT TELLS YOU SOMETHING.

There has to be a pattern to all of this, and it could help those of us hanging by a thread.

Honestly, I believe that they simply looked at the region(s)that had the least amount of work for the number of MTs they had under a particular TCM and then how much Tier I, II and III work there was and then simply drew names from a hat. Those of us that are gone just happened to meet the first two criteria as it had NOTHING to do with the quality of our work. Now my TSM is leaving the end of August (by her choice) and so have a feeling she sees the writing on the wall as well.

She was freaking out for her own job. When I talked to the IT guy about returning computer, he stated everyone is afraid for their jobs.

Here is another question of interest. Do any of the people who were let go have a 401K with MM? You know MM is trying to weasel their way out of paying into the 401K. MM said they would pay into the 401K at the end of the year, but if you are let go now, there is no need for them to pay into it, as it is not the end of the year.

No I had no 401K. I had already retired from another company at 50 before going to work for Medquist and was only part time so I was costing them nothing. I was not using any of their benefits except paid time off until now as they are paying my unemployment................

Hi all, I'm sure I'm asking a dumb question, but I just left an employee position to be an IC.  The last time I was an IC I held out 25% of my wages in a savings account, didn't pay quarterly, and my husband's refund went all to taxes, plus I had to pay more than what I had saved up.  Not happy campers.  My husband is an employee, making much more than I (about 2-3x more), and I'm not sure how to pay quarterly to ensure that he still gets a refund at the ...

I recently freaked when I found out MS was not going to be supporting XP after April 2014...I have a personal XP system and an Mmodal XP system. Well, it's official.  I just got the call that I am officially laid off!  I am glad that what I knew was inevitable has finally happened so I can move forward, but at the same time can't help grieving over the loss of what once was a career that I loved and was good at.  It's not just the company I worked for; it's the whole medical transcription industry, so as of right now I am totally THROUGH with medical transcription! ...

I have this hint that normally helps me:  “lie, lay, lain” (to recline); “lay, laid, laid” (to place or put down). The sentence is:  "The patient was brought into the endoscopy suite and 'laid' in the left decubitus position."  I was thinking it should be lain, but the patient was technically "put" in that position, so it should be laid.  Correct?  I've gone and confused myself. ...
