Is it possible to advance in this company? - slave wages

Any potential at all? Anyone know? I'm already an MME, wondering if there's another direction I can go.
Possible advancement - MModal Livestock

If you work hard, do the best job you can every day and put on a smile, one day you might just get one of those employee of the month awards. Congratulations! It's supposed to come with self-respect, but they usually forget to include that.
I'm not sure when I realized I had reached the ceiling. Perhaps it was when, after working for MQ for 5 years, they made me verify that I was a U.S. citizen and not a terrorist (and making me drive 160 miles and back again without reimbursement to do it). Then, after doing so, I got a postcard welcoming me to the MQ team, thus psychologically invalidating everything I had done up to that point.
To answer the question more seriously and without venting years worth of cold rage in the form of sarcasm: There aren't a lot of opportunities. You can become a QA. I get enough trouble dictators as an MT though, so I'm avoiding QA positions like the plague.
MMmmmmmmmmmodal also claims they promote from within and you can become a CCM. Of course, I've never seen this happen. Ever. To anyone. Not even some corporate example on the propaganda letters.
If you're already quite wealthy you can become CEO. It's an easy position. The company ran aground some years ago, so you really can't wreck this thing.
My suggestion, it's what I'll probably do in a few years, dress up like a doctor, print out a fake doctorate and start practicing medicine. Could we really do worse than the so-called real doctors? When you think about it, knowing how to fake being a doctor is the last decent benefit we get.
Darn, and I promised no more sarcasm... oops...

I miss the old MQ newsletters. I loved those things so much. Laughter is the best medicine after all. Not that the Mission ONE statements aren't a good replacement. I especially liked the little diagram: Sales -> Implementation -> Operations -> Support -> Delighted Customers. So simple, yet so wise. It's like a corporate speak turducken.

The first mistake you made was becoming an MME. They say that is suppose to give you a pay boost, but how is editing at 3cpl a pay boost?
Especially if you log-in and get stuck QA-ing other people's work all day. Sounds more like a pay cut to me.
Maybe go back to transcribing and see about getting a performance raise or something.
To answer you simply, NO - anon

No matter how good you are, even exceeding all requirments, no matter how many more skills you learn, you will never be paid any more than you get right now, perhaps expect a cut in pay even. MT, MME, QA, highest tier level, expect no monetary gain whatsoever. But be proud of the company you work for and get all excited about the changes...yeah right Vern, what color is the sky in your world? Green I suspect, ha, ha.
Notice pay is not even addressed in Vern's letters to each of us about all the "great" stuff they are going to make better for us because of the survey results. I don't even read those emails anymore, just file where they belong in the trash bin.
Maybe I am wrong and am the only who pointed out in the survey pay being the most important factor now that they have cut pay back to barely livable bottom feeder wages.
even if you move to CCM they fire them too - no way

I have actually heard of employees doing the opposite of advancing- moving down tiers or moving from MME to tier 3 because sad as it is they make more money. When you move up you are just eligible for a raise, doesn't mean you will actually get one and it had better not be over the ancient tier rates they haven't changed in 6+ years or you will be getting more responsibility for the same money.
How many CCMs and QAs in the past have logged into their computer only to find out they were fired? They had no problems pulling names out of a hat a few years ago determining which CCMs and work flow coordinators to let go. Moving up in this company is like putting a big bullseye on your back.
This doctor is going way too fast. Even when we slow him down, he is going sooooo fast. Here is the sentence we have been stuck on!
The patient ___ sedation to the right. The abdomen is prepped Beta and scrubbed Beta solution and draped in usual fashion.
Same doctor, same dictation:
The area was checked for hemostasis, closed with 3-0 Vicryl of the subcutaneous tissue and 4-0 Vicryl ___ skin and steri-strips.
Please and thank you SO very much! ...
Lots of blanks today.
Getting reports from an account I hate.
Doctors aren't entering ADT information correctly.
Doctors aren't caring a bit whether they are hard to understand or hear.
Horrible ASR output.
And 4 cents a line just isn't worth the extra effort, especially as my count is barely making minimum today because of the reasons above.
My patience and tolerance is gone. I will be so glad when I am out of here! ...
I know you are just doing your job and that you too are being monitored and held to Nuisance's guidelines. I know it is nothing personal, but you have to understand it is only human nature when we see a post audit ding and see your name and a string of hateful words and thoughts spill forth. We are going to contest things like crazy and cuss like crazy. Nuisance has it set up this way and they are basically pitting MLS against QC/QA. Again, I know you are just doing ...

Has anyone heard of Advance Technological Radiology? Rad approached me and the rad group is behind several hundred reports. Each time I am sent voice files to download for testing, it never works. Any other transcribers? Any office manager? Is company good? Bad? ...
It contains some very interesting information and is well worth the read. Just for instance, approximately 35% of MT respondents reported earning $35K or above. and 23.8% report $0 to 20K. Home workers across the board reportedly made slightly more than facility workers.
Worth noting is wage levels for coders and cancer registrars since our field may well evolve to include both coding and data abstraction duties, as well as the issue of credentialing. (BTW, my company, ...
Remember the email we got from Corporate waiving the 90-day wait period to apply for advancement of Tier III's to MME and allowing til April 30 to do it? With all the lay offs going on, anyone think a bigger axe will fall once May 1 rolls around and the Tier III's that did not do this will be let go? From the way things look with all the lay offs, maybe this is one way to hang onto our jobs. Thoughts anyone? ...
I am working at a company who observes certain holidays and we are required to work 4 of them, but this is the first company I have ever worked where I have to use my PTO on the holiday I am supposed to be off. Does your company do the same?
Thank you! :) ...
up and I'd be back at square one, making no more than their "maximums." I wonder, are this new maximum pay going to stay the same (or lower)? I mean, in 5 or 10 years (if we are still here) will it be the same? Or less? I think so. ...
We are a pretty big company, and we think we know what transcriptionists want, but it doesn't hurt to ask.
There are a lot of top people in our industry that are finding themselves without jobs, often without notice, both managers and transcriptionists. I think that the tide is turning, and that we need to make sure that we treat our people right, so if you could take a few minutes and answer this, maybe we can make a difference. I am asking for real answers, ones that ar ...
one to stay away from. Integrity. They test you, claim they are checking your references and then when you email asking if they got hold of the references, crickets. Not a word from them. This has been a few weeks, too. If they are this rude just during the recruiting process, I hate to think what working for them would be like. ...
Has anyone heard of a company called MDOfficeManager? I have heard there are fake websites for job applications. Thanks. ...
I'm trying to do research on some companies before applying. Can anyone tell me how to do this or if it is possible to do this yet on MTStars? Also if you know of other web sites that are good for this type of research, that would be helpful as well. ...
I have never done straight typing, my first MT job was with VR (even though I didn't even know they had stuff like that, LOL) now I love it and I am looking for some VR companies that are good to work for. If anyone could point me in the direction of some companies. Thanks so much ahead of time ...
I have over 30 years in this field and it seems that a lot of companies are either cutting the MT's pay to edit on ASR and/or are offshoring work out to India, Pakistan, Philippines, etc.
I don't believe in sending our jobs overseas, and I've also given ASR at whirl (a long whirl lol) and I still couldn't increase my lines per hour to compensate for the cut in pay that I had to take by doing ASR.
So what I'm looking for is a company that does not do ASR, do ...
