I think I could really make good money on VR if I was the only one on my account or if it learned specifically to each person editing. I'm getting so tired of working on reports for a day to finally get them to start coming out needing little editing by the end of the day and then coming back on the next day to find the same reports SO full of errors after different people were on the account for the next shift. It's great when you have other people who are good at their job on your account, but when you have people who are clueless or only think they're great, we all get reports FULL of errors to deal with. I'm not talking about the VR program not picking up the right words or the doctor repeating himself - stuff we would have to change anyhow. I'm talking about completely wrong words being learned by the system. SO frustrating. I really, really wish people would take the time to verify any word they do not know. Yes, that cuts the production, but that's how you learn. If we all did this, I wouldn't be correcting Marilyn dissector in every operative report I do. I'm so tired of people not doing their job correctly and giving us all a bad name. I've worked very hard for a long time to get as good as I am and to be able to make the money that I do, and it's really a kick in the pants to have the work of others who aren't taking the time to learn properly bringing me down.

It learns from BOTH the dictator's voice and the edits being made. - see message

Initially, when the engine is being "trained" it learns from the dictators voice. Once an account has gone live on voice rec, when a report is transcribed or edited, when that reports is saved it goes back to the engine and is compared to the original dictation, and the engine learns from the edits/typing.

I'm sure if the 2nd and 3rd shift were typing all these mistakes, someone would - pick it up, it is not the typist

who is making the mistakes, the VR is hearing the words wrong. If the VR is not being trained to the physician, then it will chose the word it thinks it is hearing. I hightly doubt that so many errors that you speak of would not be caught by someone and brought to the attention of the MTSO to deal with.

And the quality is just getting worse and worse. Sometimes I wonder if people are just not bothering to edit at all or very minimal. We've had warning e-mails to this effect because of dissatisfied customers lately, so I do believe it is some of the people working on the account. Either that or the program is incredibly bad at "learning."

This tiny little screen to type on makes typing these messages difficult sometimes.

Time and time again I have seen the system learn the correct way to spell equipment names, for example, Optiview trocar, only to have new people on the account and suddenly it is spelling it OptiVue or something equally wrong. Why can't people look these things up and put the correct spelling in their word expander? It takes one time of researching it and then you don't have to worry about it again.

I have tried to give DSG a chance because I really hate changing jobs, but damn... this ASR gets worse every single day. Have you ever noticed than when a dictator tries to adopt a "conversational" style of dictating, that it is very hard to try and figure out what's being said? For the hours I worked yesterday, I earned a total of $48!!! The breakdown was 60% ASR and 40% typing,and out of 3 jobs I get paid for typing, 2 of them were ASR jobs that I had to F11!!!! So, I got chewed out by QA because a doctor dictated a lab value INCORRECTLY! It was a genetic lab value, not your normal CMP, CBC or anything like that. He DICTATED the value and I TYPED the value. So my company is moving everyone from IC to employee on Jan 1. Pros: PTO days, insurance for FT, and they deal with taxes. Cons: I don't need their insurance. I want the "employer paid" portion in my check, which we won't get. Expected daily production went up. Level to reach incentive pay went up and not calculated daily. CPL rate went down 15%!
