DSG rant. (sm) - Is anyone else as miserable as I am?

I have tried to give DSG a chance because I really hate changing jobs, but damn... this ASR gets worse every single day. I thought I was developing a rhythm and some speed with it finally and now it can't complete a single solitary sentence in any report I've had in the last three days without a serious error. It doesn't even come CLOSE to typing what the dictator very, VERY clearly says. I don't understand how ASR works, but how can it be getting worse all these months after we started with it??? I thought it was getting better, but honestly it has gotten worse just in the last few days. Is anybody else suffering with this as much as I am??? Thanks for listening. This is really, really depressing.

[ In Reply To ..]If there are new MTs on the account making changes to formatting and changing things to their own personal preference, that will wreak havoc with any VR system.
I can always tell when new MTs are on my account because eScription will suddenly have a "seizure," as I call it. It pretty much sucks until the new hires are up to snuff on the client specifics, etc.

They have been known to overhire in the past, then have a massive weeding-out of people who don't work their exact schedule. Then again, maybe they're going to get rid of the people who have high line rates like MQ has been doing... I shudder every time I see they have an ad, which is fairly often.

The worst are the ones who consistently back up over themselves or repeat the same sentence 3 times, for whatever reason. Okay, I can sit there and edit those reports and take 45 minutes, or type it in 15. Also, very long dictations (10 or more minutes) shouldn't be on ASR, period.
I'm staying there for now, another MTSO isn't going to help anything. My next move would likely be either an hourly rate near my home if one comes up, or out of the business completely--probably out completely, because the hourly jobs are going by the wayside as well---outsourcing to MTSOs, and I'd be right back where I started.

The decision as to which dictators are on ASR and which aren't seems to be random at best. Some of the really great dictators are not, or you may get two dictations in a row by the same doctor and one is ASR and one is not. ASR may give you a great report on Dr. Smith now, but an hour from now, every other word by Dr. Smith is wrong even though the sound quality and dictation are absolutely crystal clear. It makes no sense. I was so depressed yesterday I almost took the rest of the day off. I am going to try to take this as a wake-up call that I need out of this business as soon as I can do it. ASR is making my life miserable, and frankly, my pay is about half of what it was before ASR came along a few months ago. Thanks for listening. I hope everyone who is miserable finds their own answer.

County and State governments are furloughing, cutting benefits here. Teachers are losing jobs.
My husband is in construction, and jobs with benefits and any type of security or full-time hours are non-existent.
DSG has been good to me. As long as I stay in MT, and nothing drastic changes there, I will stay with them. I have tried others, and comparatively, I personally am having a good experience. Their ASR seems to be about the same as everywhere else. And I hate it.
I am NOT one of those "just thankful toh ave a job," not at all. BUT.. I am thankful to have a job while I figure out what I want to do, and how I am going to get there. I used to think I'd retire in MT, now I don't think that will be possible.

Yesterday wasn't as bad, or I would have considered applying for seasonal work in retail (which I've never done before, but am seriously considering). Like you, I plan on staying put unless it gets considerably worse. We do get a good ASR line rate, at least, better than a lot of places, so that's one thing, and I get along fine with my TL and supervisor, so it's definitely not the worst place I've ever worked. The ASR is the only thing making me miserable, but I guess that's not going to go away, so eventually my expectations will sink to meet my lowly paycheck and I will adjust. Thanks for your comments!

I work for a small MT company that put me on a small account with 4 doctors, and I was told that I'd be the only MT. Within a week it was obvious someone else was taking all the work, and I was told that this other MT was only supposed to take jobs "when necessary." I am so tired of listening to their (literally) 14-minute discussions with other residents while they are dictating a 4-minute op note. Mandatory OT????? I am doing jobs that were dictated less than 1 hour ago. I am getting the worst of the worst ESL dictators. I don't mind doing some of them but I don't want ALL of them. Have you ever noticed than when a dictator tries to adopt a "conversational" style of dictating, that it is very hard to try and figure out what's being said? They start and stop several times so that you can't remember what the original line of dictation was, plus they add "you know" every other sentence. I DON'T KNOW!!!!! My Big Rant - $48 Versus $81!!!!

For the hours I worked yesterday, I earned a total of $48!!! The breakdown was 60% ASR and 40% typing,and out of 3 jobs I get paid for typing, 2 of them were ASR jobs that I had to F11!!!! If I had typed all of the jobs, I would have earned $81. Talk about a slap in the face, both professionally and reality-wise. Reality with the Q is worse than I thought. So, I got chewed out by QA because a doctor dictated a lab value INCORRECTLY! It was a genetic lab value, not your normal CMP, CBC or anything like that. He DICTATED the value and I TYPED the value.
