With this hand-slap email, "...We understand some of them are unnerving, but it is everyone's responsibility to do whatever comes in queue timely. Every now and again we are going to lose TAT for one reason or another, but it cannot be for this reason. It is pretty hard to explain to our clients that our loss of TAT was due to MTs avoid certain jobs. "
I'm just a little curious, TT Boss Lady, does this apply to the 2 MTs on this account who are fed OP notes exclusively all day long? Guess not. They get the cream of the crop and always will. Your favoritism is blatantly obvious. Rules apply to everyone - except them. Go figure.
Maybe if everyone on the account did the jobs as they came in the queue, you wouldn't have an issue with some jobs going out of TAT. Just saying.
I have the confidence of one of the leads on the account who verified the "favorites." She agrees that it's not fair to the rest of the MTs on that account, but there's nothing she can do about it.
Management knows what's going on and has lied to me about it. I print all key emails that may come in handy some day and also screen prints of my proof if it ever has to go to court.
They tell me that they can't/don't assign specific work types because they have to stay in TAT. I just document anything and everything I can to cover my tail for the time if I ever make a very stupid move and get so frustrated that I call them on it and then get fired soon after because I'm "not a good fit any longer" or whatever.
I honestly thought I found "my" place at TT and that they were on the up and up with their MTs. After all, didn't most of them start their careers in MT? Anyway, I actually cried when I found that they had lied to me. I felt so betrayed. I know there is no perfect place to work, but this was the closest I had come in my 30+ years of work experience. The bubble burst and I felt so sad about it.
Don't mind me. I just have to vent every so often and then I'm good for a month or two. LOL.
Thanks for listening to my pity party rant.
No, it's not a deflection technique or any kind of technique. I don't cherry pick. Never have and never will. Work is work, as far as I'm concerned. I've been audited twice and got 99.6% on one and 99.8% on the other. I've always voluntered and helped out when needed. I'm an extraordinary MT and they know it. I'm just not a BFF with the big-D or whoever made that decision.
I've never lied to my employer - ever. I was just stating how disappointed I was to find out they lied to me.
It is, in fact, my business when it comes to my pay. When 2 MTs are getting almost 90% of the account's OP notes, they get to cruise through their day while the rest of us are pounding away.
It is, in fact, my business when we are staring at the screen and waiting for work and these 2 are doing their regular line counts. Not long ago, we were struggling and were grabbing each job as it came in on our secondary and tertiary accounts and flexing in order to make lines. When work is low, we're told to check every 15 or 30 minutes or so. That makes for a very long day. I had to use PTO some days because the work was so scarce, and sitting at my desk on and off from 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. just to get minimum lines is just not healthy. When this was going on, these 2 favs didn't see any change in their workload, didn't leave their main account and worked their "normal" day.
If TT is going to play the game that way and if they are going to have favorites, I want them to be straight with me. Tell me outright, and then I can accept those terms or leave. Just don't lie to me and think I don't know what's going on. Like Judge Judy says, "Don't piddle on my shoe and tell me it's raining."
I will continue to protect myself with emails, especially when it comes to the workload and my check. I haven't thought of it as some sort of gambit, but I've certainly been around long enough to know that no one is looking out for me but me.
I do get plenty of fresh air, thanks for asking. I also have a couple of hobbies, a wonderful family and a few close friends to keep me busy after work hours.
Even if I knew their names, I would never give names of MTs on any public board. Besides, how would I know their names? Anyone who works at TT knows that we don't have access to the names of other MTs. Why would you even ask for that kind of information? I mean, how would that give you the proof you want? I only know the 6-digit number of the MTs.
I have a very good lead and she's a good person. I'd never call her out on this board to be micromanaged by her bosses and possibly put her job in jeopardy. Why would I do that? I don't play it that way. The suits monitor this board and obviously get their feathers ruffled if something is said that they don't like (see posts above). Remember the gourd?
It really doesn't matter to me if anyone believes me or not. In fact, I never asked anyone to believe me. I was simply stating what I know personally on my account and what I have noted. There are many accounts at TT (I don't know how many accounts there are). There are probably over 300 MTs working there, and the majority of them don't work on my account -- many of them probably don't even work on ExText. I never said all the accounts had favorites. I only know of favorites on ONE of my accounts. It's not that difficult to find the information. It just takes a little detective work and the info is there.
I'm certainly not bitter in any way. I would even like to retire from TT one day. But, you would think that from the responses above, that I was a miserable employee with no life and nothing better to do than trash my employer. Of course, there is no perfect place to work. One person's fit could be another person's nightmare. TT fits fine in my life right now. I think trying to get inside someone's head about their motivation is kind of a stretch, though. Since when it is uncommon for someone to criticize their employer at one time or another? Suggesting they need to get fresh air and a hobby, assuming they are motivated by bitterness, or even that they are lying makes me question THEIR motive and, in fact, maybe they are suit(s) themselves. Question everything, even the questioner. Just saying.
Oh, and to GIJane - Yes, of course, I contacted them and asked about it. I even asked if there were some people hired to do only certain jobs. If they would have been up front with me, I certainly would have no reason to critize them.
