Dragon Naturally Speaking - voice recognition software - Abby
Posted: Jan 18, 2010
Hi,
I have been researching this voice recognition software, and have found that about a third of MTs think it is not faster than typing, another third thinks it does not work well at all, and the final third thinks it does improve productivity. Does anyone have any input here as to a few more opinions?
Thanks,
Abby
Let's bottom line this, will not matter if third thinks - this or a third thinks that

You can purchase, learn, but if YOUR company does not allow it, what is the use? Some do NOT.

are allowed to use any resource available to them. How many people like Dragon medical version?
Thanks,
Abby
This is just not a shot in the dark, I know a person - who bought the system

But I think will just keep all that information to myself now with your answer.

Dragon Naturally Speaking - Is There Better Voice Recognition Software Out There? Mar 22, 2012Has anyone ever used Dragon Naturally Speaking to type up their work? Dragon Voice Recognition Software Question Dec 03, 2013Has anyone out there ever tried the Dragon voice recognition software? I used to edit VR for another company but now work for someone else who does not use VR and I am doing straight typing. I am wondering if it would be worth investing in the Dragon VR software to speed up production. I know it's created by Nuance, and they use it in their system and it's great for the dictators and the editors but what if you are a transcriptionist and want to play the audio for the ...
Dragon Naturally Speaking 11.5 Dec 16, 2011I have the Standard version 10 and had to deal with a lot of bug issues with it. I love the program, but I didn't like the constant problems with trying to download updates, etc. (I have Vista).
I wondered if anyone else out there bought this updated version and was pleased with it. I'm hoping to hear that they have the bugs worked out of this program, as the program itself is great and a valuable assest to an MT who types in Word.
Any feedback a ...
Dragon Naturally Speaking Instead Of Transcribing? Nov 06, 2009Has anyone used Dragon NS instead of transcribing? Does it take a long time to train it? Is it really faster and worth the money? Thanks! ...
Addendum To Dragon Naturally Speaking.... Jan 18, 2010I was thinking of using this as a replacement for typing/transcribing. For example when I hear the dictation, I then repeat it to the Dragon voice recognition software, and it types for me.
(You need to read the post before this one for it to all make sense -- sorry!)
Thanks,

Dragon Naturally Speaking Standard 10 Aug 28, 2011I purchased and installed this application for some classes I am taking. I thought it would save time with notes etc and it does ------ when functioning properly. I also contemplated the medical version for my transcription.
It is probably just me, I am sure, but I just do not know how to fine tune.
The only thing I know to do when I run into a problem is to uninstall and rei nstall.
To my knowledge there is no technical support. &nb ...
Dragon Naturally Speaking Success Stories? Nov 12, 2009I'd like some advice from those out there that are using this. I have 32-bit Vista. I have heard that version 10 is a nightmare to install with cruddy tech support from Nuance. Therefore, I am considering going with version 9 Preferred if I can find it.
I can't afford the Medical software, but I have heard of MTs having good results with training the Preferred version to medical words. My hands are bothering me, and I need to get this software to help out with reports.

Does Anybody Use Dragon Naturally Speaking To Echo Dictate (redictate)? Nov 08, 2010I've tried to use the search function, but either it's not working properly or I'm not doing something right (I suspect it's not working right now).
I work for a company with a Web-based transcription platform (straight typing). What I want to try to do to improve my productivity is to buy Dragon Naturally Speaking, load it onto my computer, echo dictate (redictate) what my docs are saying, and then cut and paste the software's output into the platform windo ...

Dragon Naturally Speaking Compatible With Scribe Platform? Oct 02, 2014I'm wondering if anyone knows if Dragon Naturally Speaking is compatible with Transportal's platform, I believe it's Scribe? This is the home version, which worked quite well in the past. I know there are a few that won't allow third party software and the program will be blocked. I understand why as regard to HIPAA, etc. I'm just trying to keep working as long as I can with RA.
If anyone is using Dragon in conjunction with MTSO platform, I' ...
Voice Recognition - Plain Speaking Dictators Feb 07, 2013I wish someone would tweak the VR as lately I am taking more time to do corrections than I could have typed it. Voice Recognition Software Nov 08, 2011I was wondering if anyone has ever used any voice recognition software to do your work? Voice Recognition "editing Software" Is A Joke Oct 15, 2013Voice recognition "editing software" is the bright idea of some computer software chump who knows nothing about medical transcription. Transcription is everchanging. No words are EVER pronounced exactly the same way each time. Even the same voice, dialects, and dictators change from minute to minute. It is organic. It is also subjective depending on who is listening. Big business has jumped on board, as they see this as a big opportunity to ...

Voice Recognition - Is Anybody Making Any Money At All On Voice? Jan 12, 2013I was wondering, is anybody making any money at all on voice? I keep hearing just minimum or maybe a little more. I call minimum wage 7.50 to 8.00 an hour. My experience with it was at one point I was told that I hadn't made enough for minimum and they had to do make-up pay. So how is everybody's experience with voice? I run from it, and I just want to know if anybody really can make an money? Thanks. ...

Voice Recognition Pay Jun 02, 2011I'm infuriated that the quota to keep benefits is the same as it was before voice recognition. I'm KILLING myself to try to keep up to maintain health insurance and just can't do it. With 96% plus voice recognition reports and half pay from straight typing, I'm losing health care benefits. SO UNFAIR!!! ...
(voice Recognition) VR Pay Sep 26, 2011Have to learn VR soon. What if a report comes to you and there were no corrections to be made, does MT still get paid for the lines on the report or do you only get paid for straight typing and then if report has errors you just get paid for those corrections. Never done VR before and for some reason they make it sound so easy. ...

Is Everything Voice Recognition Now (sm) Jan 16, 2014Is everything with M*Modal now voice recognition? How Do You Do Voice Recognition Editing? Oct 31, 2009
Hi: I worked as an IC for 15 years and then went to work at a hospital for nine years. There have been layoffs where I work, and I think I will be included in the next round. I started looking around for jobs at a service again and was shocked to find out how much things have changed. Now, most of the services do a combination of transcription and voice recognition editing (I had no idea). Can somebody tell me something about VR editing? How is it done?&nbs ...

Voice Recognition In India Mar 26, 2010I'm curious about something and maybe somebody out there knows the answer to this question. Do the transcriptionists in India do voice recognition or are they regular transcriptionists.
In my mind I thin this is what happened to the transcription profession. Someone thought that if we can get the work done cheaper in India then we should go there. However those girls won't have as much terminology as the ones here in the states so if we go to voice recognition that w ...
M Modal Voice Recognition Sep 24, 2010The company that I am working for is going to go with M Modal VR. I currently use ChartNet and they are switching to VR. I have never done this type of transcription before. For those of you who use it, is it that hard to learn? I am at this point so tired of learning new programs and I only wish I could retire now. MT is not what it used to be and I used to love transcription, but I am at this point just burnt out. I used to make good money working ...

Would Like To Get Some Opinions On Voice Recognition Jan 12, 2011I would like to get some opinions on voice recognition. I've never done it before. I've heard pretty much negativity about it, and it scares me because it sounds like a lot of companies use it. Also it really concerns me because I have to make at the very least so much amount of money to pay my bills! I've done clinic, hospital and at-home transcription. The at-home transcription was not a good experience. I actually had to go back to the hospital part-time and work a ...
Voice Recognition Myth #1 May 25, 2011the myth is that we're teaching it! The stupid thing refuses to learn! If this were a human, he or she would have been out the door a long time ago (and the interview process would have gone something like "Oh, yeah I can do transcription, I was a receptionist at a doctor's office!). So if there's anyone still concerned about being replaced by this thing, and resenting having to "teach" it, you can start worrying about other things (of which I'm sure you have plenty). ...
