Unusually slow - or is it?

I have told myself I would keep some kind of a diary recording the volume of work for different times of the year, yet have never actually done this.
It seems as though work is unusually slow for the past couple of weeks, with only the odd busy time (usually at nights of course, when I start in the mornings).
Has anyone ever recorded the fluctuations in volume, or perhaps it varies by the year and different flus, prevalent illnesses, etc.?
It just seems unusually slow right now, but maybe it is always this slow this time of the year.

[ In Reply To ..]Just to try to get in as many hours as I can. Use all my PTO every week or else short paycheck. Make sure I do the OOW NSA thing where if you are short hours it is not your fault, but still not enough money if I am short hours, so use the PTO, and even then it won't equal 40 this week.
Sometimes I think I will go down to lower hours so I don't have to sit here so long waiting for work, but then my PTO would go down from 14 hours to 4, which really stinks, plus my pay is bad enough now, so how would the lower hours help (except I wouldn't have to sit here all hours).
Sometimes I think Nuance has someone in charge of torturing MTs. Perfect with your quality control? Get your line count up, slowpoke. Great line count? CRITICAL ERROR, MAJOR ERROR, you are bad, bad, bad, and lazy to boot.
Same thing with the PTO. Great to have 14 days, but do I ever get to save enough to string them into actual leave? Nope. Unless I want a terrible paycheck I need to use it. Sometimes it's simply because I get sick of waiting, but these last two weeks no matter how I try, there still doesn't seem to be enough work to make it to 40, so I resent using my PTO. Even worse would be a short pay though for me, unfortunately, since my usual pay is short by $200 what I usually used to get before Nuance ate my company anyway.

[ In Reply To ..]This board, no, read back a few months, even years. Nuance offshores everything as soon as you have whipped speech wreck into good enough shape that our Indian partners can then type it for 3 cents an hour.
It ain't ever getting better, do not hang in there hungry waiting for it. We that came before made that mistake already.

So, you that came before, how are you making a living? I would rather have commiseration than a lecture at this stage.
I am not "hungry" - simply no other choice at this point. I recall this kind of thing happening for years, though, way before even speech rec, and my initial point was that there are sometimes just slow times, but I was not sure why it would be now.
I know it ain't getting better, but this job is still what I'm going to do, so I need to put up with this stuff and make the most of it. I have tried to get other jobs and where I am I can't, not that don't require a huge commute and a lot of other costs for the same pay as I make as an MT.
My primary account was not off-shored until the contract - forbidding that was renegotiated.

Just prepare financially for the bottom to fall out of whatever income from that account is all I was suggesting. Nuance's partners in India make it toooo lucrative for it NOT to end as soon as possible, and you will be given no warning. But, then again since it already has dropped off significantly, perhaps a sudden departure of work won't feel as badly as back when some of us did not know what was happening.

Every site having to do with MQ is as slow as molasses. Other Internet sites whiz along. Trying to check MQ E-mail, clock in, etc. is always a draaaaaaaaggggg. Is it their equipment or poor IT I wonder? Either way, once again makes you wonder about their accuracy on any of our numbers. Hospital I work for just went from Dictaphone to Chartscript. My DSL (Frontier) is old and slow. When too many people are using the DSL, the speed slows WAY down and the jobs don't save. Fluency even slower in late afternoon. Now, I wait for ADT to pull in to accept a visit, but I can use Google within the platform with no issues. Now, I see it even adding to my inactive time. I know it is Fluency because all other electronics work fine.
