Dear TSM
Please don't tell me how "great" it is that we have "knocked it out of the park" and the volumes are way down.
Guess what, when the volumes are way down, that is great for you, great for the client, but it means I have no work and have to sit in front of this godforsaken monitor for hours and hours waiting for a crumb here or there.
Please don't keep offering unlimited overtime at night so that there is never any work in the morning. When you hire new people, why not make them work at night?
Since the massive pay cuts which occurred with the advent of FIESA (the death star), many people seem to jump at the OT even though the rate of pay is pretty bad, which means there is never any work in the morning when OT is offered at night.
Here's a thought, if there is work in danger of going out of TAT, tell the OTers they only get to do that, NOT all the work I could have typed the following morning that would NOT be out of TAT, but they just did because they were offered OT.
I cannot participate in OT, #1 because I don't get any benefit from it because I get no production bonus and the OT rates are not good, #2 because I have had to get a second job since Nuance has cut my pay so drastically, so I am unable to base my entire schedule around whether or not there is OT available.
Because I have now two jobs thanks to Nuance pay cuts, it would be nice if there was ever work in the morning when I am scheduled to work for Nuance.
Please also don't tell me the good news that if you are OOW, guess what, you just check in again in 15 minutes and if there is still no work, you can be done for the day!
As much as I wish I could be done for the day, you do realize I don't get paid for that, right? I really cannot afford that, could you?
I imagine you get paid hourly, work or not, you also get bonuses for TAT, whether or not you make mistakes. You certainly don't get money taken off you if you don't make TAT, do you? You still get your hourly pay.
Well, I can tell you that since Nuance found a way to take the bonus off me every single time I make $100 less per week, so how would you like it if they took that off your salary?
The "bonus" is a crock and in fact nothing more than a mechanism to reduce pay. I refuse to look at FIESA, refuse to put my initials on it "accepting" my error, because to me that means I am "accepting" the fact that because I make an error here or there I am okay with Nuance taking pay OFF me for that error, which I am not okay with. I find every time I look at it my confidence goes down, I second guess myself and go slower, and yet no matter how careful I am I still get dinged and never reach bonus.
So, as someone posted here a while back, you pay for cut-rate transcription, that is what you get. Since I have given up on getting the bonus, I find all the proofing and double proofing is unproductive and slows me down. I am very good and fast and very aware, I check the numbers, I check the ages, I do my best, but were I to constantly produce a perfect document every time in my case I could not make the line count requirements, so there's that and there's the fact that without any hope of a bonus I must up my line count, so blankety blank blank when I have to.
So in summary, just be aware when you are crowing over how "great" it is that we worked so hard and got all the work done, and we do agree with you when you say we could use a break for working so hard and deserve a pat on the back, that does not pay the bills.
If you can't offer anything more than "job well done" (which Nuance has made crystal clear they will never offer) that is fine, but please try to contain your enthusiasm. We would rather you try a little harder with the scheduling and make sure us great employees actually have decent work to do when we are scheduled to work.
