WOW.  I wish I had done my homework before accepting even a PT position with this company.  To date, paperwork in, but nothing for a few days now.  After accepting this PT position I happened upon this forum and have already started looking for a new job.  I am supposed to start with Nuance in a week working 7-11 pm CST.  Not ideal hours but I guess what they had available.  Been in the business for almost 15 years and have never heard so much negative about one place.  So, I am already contemplating quitting.  Just got myself a temporary job - not transcription - but wondering if I should just take this and tell Nuance thanks but no thanks.   I guess I may just wait and see for now but boy I am so nervous.  I wonder if there will even be work at these hours and what type of "mentoring" might be available at that time as well.  Plus, now I hear a paycut.  WOW.

I applied at Nuance and took their test and didn't pass. I sent a rather heated e-mail stating how horrible those tests were and they were not a good indicator of how good an MT really is. I just had to have my say. About two weeks later, I heard back from them, offering me a job. I figured they were getting desperate. Like you, I started reading the posts about Nuance. I wrote the recruiter back and told her about all the negative things I had read about Nuance on this forum and I would not want to work for a company like that; in fact, I did! Yes I worked for Spheris and MQ; both from way down under! She assured me, they had over 5000 MTs in the US and you just can't please everyone. I still didn't take it. I told her it sounded too much like MQ and no thank you. I moved on. If you take it, keep looking, as I don't think you will like it.

They got us (Webmedx) and soon thereafter adjusted our wages so everyone was making approximately the same wage. There is a little variance depending on the platform you are on. They should be getting that scale out to you if they haven't already. It hurt some of us quite a bit. It's part of their work harder (even though there is often no work available), work more accurately (pushing for 99% accuracy, next will probably be 100%)plan. The health insurance is pretty much a joke, but I understand most companies are sadly lacking here.

They have been hiring like crazy, likely in anticipation of some of the Transcend employees saying adios when they get zapped.

Did they already get the Transcenders on flexibility and scheduling? We got hit there too.

Good luck to us all, we seem to need it more and more each day.

Transcenders, this is exactly what happened to former Webmedx employees. We had to choose our insurance before the end of 2011 and then were hit with a batch of meetings and emails that left us in shock regarding our rate of pay, lack of benefits, etc., basically bits and pieces of an employee handbook. Then, we were paid an offset for the first 6 months of 2012 as Nuance realized our income was going to take a big hit and we would leave En masse. With the offset came a letter regarding how in 6 months, Nuance thought our pay rate would become close to that we had previously with Webmedx through improvements in software, platforms, etc. Well, this certainly never happened and after 6 months were over, we were still making considerably less money than we had before Nuance came. I believe this is an intentional lie so that employees they are absorbing do not immediately tender their resignations but rather hold on believing they can improve their income to its previous level, and this is just not the case. So they get you to hang on for 6 months, paying you an incentive so you do not notice the massive pay cut you have just taken. Start looking now. This company disgusts me and devalues transcriptionists and leaves well-seasoned employees feeling like they haven't learned a thing. They destroy lives and don't care.

I have noticed they have hired three new people on my primary account, which is not warranted as work is very slow. I believe they are hiring people now, placing them to allow for a possible shortage when some of us quit with the new pay cuts in January 2013.

I really despise working for this company too and, at first, believed I would never feel that way but it's just one thing after another, what a drudge, plus QA marking good people down whenever and wherever they can.

You know, "they" sold out to Nuance, they sold out loyal employees, all for the big bucks !!! No ethics, no conscience, just self-serving. Ugh!

I wonder if they look on this Board to see who moans and groans (quite rightly so, BTW) and those they choose to eliminate ?!!!!!!!!

This is just wonderful news!! I was just hired for a part-time position and listening to the recruiter, you would think they couldn't hire enough people fast enough!! I am rethinking this seriously now - I have no intention of working for dirt wages (though they already are). How can they cut them even more? And to sit and not have any work? I have played that game since they started outsourcing overseas and have had to quit several jobs because of it. Now I don't know what to do. I need extra money, but if there is no work how can I make it by sitting and waiting on jobs? Any suggestions? Thanks!

They are hiring people with little to no experience - who will think new pay rates are great.

They probably figure they'll be well prepared when everyone departs at once. There is no incentive to stay here anymore. Transcend obviously knew what they were doing when they sold us down river and just plain didn't care obviously.

It is horrible work and all ESL. The only American accents on this account are speed talkers. It is a nightmare, but there is always work, so I guess I should count myself lucky.

I don't love Nuance but I guess it's better than nothing.

The acct I am on, we have "free text cc's." you have to go into a seperate website, search the doc data base for the name and then type that info on the report. You know how long that takes?  This acct I am on has 20 pages of rules.. I did not ask to be put on this acct, I was switched over and now am on 100% QA as I entered a DOS incorrectly.  Can you say fed up with this for minimum wage?? It is just too much. Firstly I'm trying to figure out who the biggest players are and I've come up with Nuance and M*Modal. These seem to be by far the biggest, but I've also found some smaller companies like Presyce, Superior Global Solutions, TransTech, Acusis and MedScribe - are there any others I'm missing? What Do You Guys Think Is An Appropriate Amount Of Time For Research For A Report?

For say a syndrome, a drug, a doctor's name/address, facility name/address, etc.?  If I think I can hear the dictation correctly I do spend an extended amount of time because I KNOW I can find it.  However, if it is ify as to what I am hearing or the spellings could be a dozen different things, I ususally send to QA because if I am not sure - it's probably going to end up to QA anyway.  I NEVER look up a doctor's name if the first name is not dictate ...
