Nuance Escription - MLS

Posted: Nov 23, 2012

When Accentus accounts are taken over by Nuance will they wll be changed to Escription or whatever software they use?  Accentus uses Apex and it is not that good.  If we have to learn a new platform, what will happen to our pay during that time?

Ecription is a wonderful program. Does not take long at all to work with. - anon

I worked on Escription at another service. If you were having problems with another program, I would think that having Escription would be a positive. Very user friendly and nothing really to learn. One hour was given to learning, but still not as the sales people have it where you can do 'double.' At least that was my experience. Nuance and Dictaphone have taken over and Nuance is infiltrating into the hospitals all around the US. That's for what little I know and my opinion. Don't worry about the program, probably the least of our worries! Good luck.

Is it really Escription or a variation, - E-BYTX? NM

Platform training is $10 an hour - RC

[ In Reply To ..]
Escription is a pretty good platform. There are glitches, but from what I've read, not everyone has them. I have glitches, but they're workable. Overall, it's pretty easy.

The training is $10 an hour, and they make you watch really lame videos. I actually played the videos and walked away, listening but not really watching, and was still able to figure out Escription.

And 10$ an hour for 1 hour!!! Then back to 3 or 4cpl. - anon

[ In Reply To ..]
And all foreign.

What do you mean for 1 hour? I had many hours of training... - see message

[ In Reply To ..]
There is platform training in 3 parts, and then at least a half dozen other recorded trainings, in addition to my live training session.
Maybe 3-part training for you, but different service probably too. - anon
[ In Reply To ..]
Only 1 hour training at the service I was at. That was it. Even when new employee...1 hour. Shown how to get stared, where and how to look for samples, then you are on your own to produce. Any questions...email, don't call.
Apologies. Yes, my training was with Nuance. - see message
[ In Reply To ..]
I'm sure training varies depending upon the company. Sorry for the confusion.

I guess it is a matter of opinion, but I don't like it - sm

I still don't know if there is a difference between EditScript and Escription, but EditScript? I don't like it. I was way more productive on DQS (not with M*Modal, but a different company that no longer dabbles in transcription). I would venture that I was at least 50% more productive on DQS. Of course, it's a matter of opinion. DQS had all these need little editing features. With EditScript, there is just add a period or add a comma. With Editscript, you have to highlight the word before where you want the period. It's the word after in DQS, which made more sense to me. I am still not used to EditScript and find it very clumsy. Plus, most of your screen is taken up by fluff that you don't need to see, IMO.

You are probably more right on. I had nothing to compare it to. - anon

[ In Reply To ..]
I worked on a slow Meditech program and that was straight typing. Did not do much straight typing though on Escription, just almost 100% VR. So did not have this DQS you talk about to compare it to, but it also depends on how many years you are on a certain program. Too many think it is so easy to conform and then produce like a machine. Had one supervisor tell us to put tape over a key we were used to using! I found it hard to make the extremely high linecount on Escription, so you know better. It is all what you get used to...but production wise...don't know if anything nowadays is for the transcriptionist.

I work at MM and have worked on both DQS and - SM

[ In Reply To ..]
eScription for MM. Escription was much better with ASR and fewer corrections PLUS I made TWICE AS MUCH MONEY on eScription platform as I did on DQS platform. I don't know the reason for this - if it was the platform - not 100s of MTs doing things their own way on tons of accounts (only 10 MTs on this account) - getting paid for ADT on escription and not on DQS? - better dictators - or what but I'll take the paycheck I got on eScription any day over DQS. Unfortunately, MM lost that eScription account and I am back to making half of what I did on the eScription account. No rhyme or reason in this profession. It stinks!

Few MTs and fewer QAs, is why this worked. But have 1000s of MTs and - 100s of QA, and it reverts to garbage. nm

You're right. That's why I was able to make so - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
much more on eScription - fewer MTs and QA. DQS teams have way too many MTs on way too many different accounts for ASR to work like it should. God help all of us in this profession!

DQS vs Escription - GoFlow

[ In Reply To ..]
Have worked on both platforms and although DQS is an excellent platform, Escription seems to have an edge in the
VR category. You might say "it learns better." That being said and thus being able to be more productive on Escription, one is still hard pressed to make a good paycheck with the CPL so low and the myriad of other tasks one must do to finish a report.
so right - long-time MT
[ In Reply To ..]
You are so right about EditScript or Escription, Nuance's platform. There is NO WAY one can double their lines as our management professes. There is just WAY TOO MUCH editing to reports and WAY TOO many missing demographics to make any money anymore. I have been on a number of platforms, including DQS which was an excellent platform. But that was when VR was just getting started, so I cannot say today what the ability to make a living on DQS would be now. BUT I am currently on EditScript and have been for several years and it has become impossible to bring home a paycheck even close to my paychecks 2 years ago. It is very disheartening ! VR has ruined our paychecks !
addendum - long-time MT
[ In Reply To ..]
When the companies HALF OUR PAY on editing VR reports, you can be assured that you WILL NOT double your line count, which equates to your line rate. I get about 98% editing VR reports, so only get paid my straight line rate on 2% of reports. VR half-pay editing has ruined our paychecks !

you got that right - long-time MT

[ In Reply To ..]
"fluff" on the screen -- and by the time you add 10 cc's, there is no screen left to follow along in the editing process !!! MT's are hurting in a BAD way !!! An out-the-door profession it is quickly becoming -- at least out the door of the United States' MT's. And we are working for $.04 per line already on 98% of our reports !!! LESS the time consumed by adding CC's and filling in demographics, not getting paid for any spaces or returns (only black characters/visible characters) and memorizing all the different Account Specifics, etc. Happy Christmas shopping all you MT's !!!

EditScript - ESuser

[ In Reply To ..]
I have only been able to average about $10/hr with ES (I do 95% VR). My drafts are ridiculously bad, which means major edits. I find the program pretty clunky and limited, lacking the more sophisticated features I had with DQS. The reps make the standard "double your production" pitch, but no way in Hades I could ever come to that point. I'm not familiar with Apex. ES is fairly easy to master, but I wouldn't count on doubling your typed lines.

Apex is Accentus proprietary platform along with M Modal for VR. - MLS

[ In Reply To ..]
That's why I was wondering if Nuance would keep Apex for the accounts they get from Accentus.

The other big one is in process of switching all the orphan - platforms they have aquired SM

[ In Reply To ..]
throught buy outs to DQS and their other proprietary platform.

Webmedx also used M*Modal, they switched it - anon

[ In Reply To ..]
That was one of the first changes made with the Nuance transcription. We stayed on Enterprise, but they stopped the M*Modal and we reverted to an older VR system that had a lot less functionality. It took a long time and many accounts were lost, and they gradually started converting them.

the answer is "who knows" - pumpernickel

[ In Reply To ..]
Transcend got bought out by Nuance... a year ago? I don't remember exactly. There are still the BeyondTXT accounts that were originally with Transcend and even some Bayscribe accounts that were with MDI-MD before Transcend bought them out. I work on an Escription/EditScript account that came over with the Transcend merger. Some accounts change platforms in the Nuance mergers and some don't. So again the answer is "who knows."

What Companies Use EScription BESIDES Nuance
Nov 10, 2014

I'm not too fond of Fluency/DoQscribe.  The platform itself is nice, but it doesn't seem to be as good at speech recognition as eScription.  Fluency is very user friendly, but when I worked at MM it produced horrible drafts on speech recognition.  I know that could in part be attributed to multiple MTs using a variety of editing styles, which could cause the platform to not learn, but all I know is it was a struggle getting a good line count with VR on Fluency.  Can ...

Has Anyone Heard Of Nuance Escription Service?
Oct 02, 2012

Has anyone heard of Nuance escription service? Apparently the hospital I transcribe for has decided that they don't want to use the contract service I am currently with and are going to this. My current employer tells me that the pay rate will be less than what she pays which is .10 a line. I can barely make it sometimes on that. I'm not sure how I will do on less pay. It does have more benefits, but I can't pay my bills with those. If anyone has any kind of info on what they pay ...

Nuance - Escription - "Special" Foot Pedal
Jul 11, 2013

Hi!! We had our meeting at the hospital today with Nuance about being onboarded with them. We were told by HR that the hospital will let us keep the computers we have been working on, but that Nuance will be sending us the "special" Escription foot pedals. Is this true? I have never worked on Escription before. Does it require its own pedal? I am so heartsick about this transition but at this time, I have no other options. I am going to go into this with the thought of doing my work, ...

TTS Escription

For a company with technology in its name, I find this platform sorely lacking. Constantly having to correct capitals I don't want when I take out a period, it not putting a macro over what I want to change and all this backing up and retyping to change stuff or get a macro to work where I want it is driving me crazy (I know, short trip) and wasting a lot of time.   Don't they have any engineers or programmers who can get around this?  Guess I just got spoiled at Precyse; mac ...

Turning Off EScription's Red Box
Nov 05, 2009

Is there a way to turn this box off? Our system is not well trained yet so there is a lot of editing required. The alt-K combination is awkward for me when having to stop every few words to correct something.
