Just resigned from Nuance. - Anon

I had to quit before I even started officially working there. The problem was living with my daughter's family. I only have satellite in the mountains and thought I could stay part-time with daughter's family and then come home on my days off. I must have been crazy or totally unrealistic to think this would ever work. I had to work at desk which right next to front door and of course all kinds of traffic all day long. Teenagers too -- very noisy and total chaos in house. They all yell and scream at each other -- never talk in a normal tone of voice. My daughter stays stressed out constantly and is prone to having temper tantrums. She is either bipolar or close to it. Now can you imagine trying to work in those conditions. Oh, I forgot to mention one tiny detail -- they mess around with my equipment and throw my books on the floor or whereever. So when I come back I have to find my papers and books before I can even start working.

Big mistake trying to work in daughter's home. Some jobs are just not worth trying to do in this setting.

Joining your family could have been nice, and I'm sorry reality fell so far short.

IMO, adolescence is a form of insanity. If the precious little ones who run shrieking to see me now start heading out the back door as I drive up in their teens, I intend take it serenely and just plan to reinitiate relations again at about...oh, maybe 32 or so. :)

Hope your next plan turns out even better than you expected.

You are probably right about teen years being like insanity. There is a change in the way they act towards adults -- usually not good. currently my daughter is fighting with the oldest who is 14-year-old boy. She tends to be very rigid in her parenting skills and will not allow for any changes; thus all the chaos. She still wants to treat him like she did when he was little boy and of course that does not work anymore. Honestly, I am not sure what does work for that age group -- very tough time for them and us.

Yeah, found out it does not work staying with younger generation. Maybe just short visits would work.

Maybe you could take the kids out for a little one-on-one? - I am not acquainted with the teens

mine'll be, but if their lives turn out to just not have room for me I hope to lurk in the background of their psyches as someone who knows they're wonderful and have wonderful things ahead of them. We'll see.

Honestly, though, that doesn't sound a great place for you right now. I'd have to love them all to pieces from a distance or kill them face to face. :)

I have worked for Medquist 7 years, started out 10 cents a line and I am Tier III ESL accounts. Used to work for transcend before that. We went to ASR and we were told to highlight and correct so we could "train" it. According to a poster below which has apparently already attended one of the payroll meetings (as the poster posted) for nuance they have decided to keep the incentive part of all of our pay going with an exception that now you have to have over the industry standard of 98% to get a production based incentive. In addition (if this poster is accurate) they have again cut the overall pay from 8 and 4 to 3 3/4 AND 7 1/2. This is nothing but a bunch of crapploa...an MT who is now getting ...

I thought they were 2 different services. Everyone is buying out everyone, so who knows. All the small companies have been merged I guess. I thought Nuance was out of New York and were the primary with VR. Does anyone know why the ad says "No inquiries from overseas" when they obviously offshore the work? Anyone reading that would incorrectly assume they do not offshore. If Webmedx does away with or changes their recently advertised "PRODUCTION BASED INCENTIVE" bonus and adopts the Nuance quality based bonus then this change may be considered by quite a few WMX employees as yet another cut in pay. Is this true? Because if so that means they dont take into consideration years of experience, opportunity for increase or nothing. Seems kind of hard to work for an obviously big and successful company that is only willing to pay their employees 0.41 cpl and thats it, no ifs, ands, or buts about it.
