They had me LOLing and appreciating the expressive writing skills of my fellow MTs.
One especially good one is in toto below. We should all go on there and add to their sterling, well deserved reputation. This is in the public domain, so I don't think I am breaking any rules copying this, but by all means if anyone wants to put their name on this, I don't blame you. Great review of terrible employer.
To wit:
I worked at Nuance Transcription Services full-time (more than an year)
Lol. Zero. None. Did I mention zero?
Everything. Becoming homeless. Being degraded. Being used. Being ignored. Having to be glued to your computer 12 hours a day or more while still not getting in 8 hours of work. Then when you want to make up time on the same time period they don't let you because you can't work more than 40 hours in a week. It's not overtime when it's the same pay period! Everything being outsourced overseas. Never getting the chance to obtain an hourly position there because they give people overseas the jobs for cheaper pay. Nuance invented voice recognition so they could eventually take over all the hospitals and clinics and make millions while the people doing the real work can't even survive, go into debt, need government assistance, and lose your mind and stability. Everyday there was something new or the SOS to make me anxious, angry, depressed, defeated, distressed, and lower than I had ever been. I loved my job until I was forced to work for them after the hopsital contracted with them.
My advice to management? Kiss my behind. I gave you my all and in turn I received nothing but agony. They don't deserve advice. My real advice is to the hospitals and clinics - don't contract with them!! Find another way to keep your transcriptionists. Give your hardworking and talented MTs the chance to keep a job they enjoy doing and feel valued. My advice to transcriptionists - I know exactly how you feel, get out ASAP and don't give up looking for another job. It took me a good year to find another job in a different field and I felt like giving up so many times, but I kept going because I had no choice, and I know you all who still work there know what I'm talking about. I had to put my MT career behind me and slam the door, but I hope we can be heard and the hospitals and clinics realize what's going on or another transcription company takes heed of these cries and turns things around so people can continue to be MTs and not slaves. For the skills and knowledge we MTs have, we deserve better than what Nuance can provide.
