For Nuance employees in CA (at least).. - New law effective July this year

Employers must allow 3 PAID sick days per year if they weren't already doing this.  I am sure Nuance will HATE this and are probably right now putting their fat heads together trying to come up with a way to get out of it.  First, they won't even acknowledge it, hoping no one will call them on it.  If that doesn't work, they will think of something else.

They will get rid of California employees. This is what Transcend did in the past when they used to hire people in Hawaii and was told by that state they had to give the I believe it was 3 weeks of vacation a year and high minimum wage standards to those making below that dollar mark, so they let all of those employees go.

I don't think they will get immediately get rid of - CA MTs...but I do think

they will IF the employee doesn't continuously make more than minimum wage. For example, I have been making in the 13-14/hour range (I'm in CA). I'd be worried if I made 10 or less. Not saying it won't happen in the future though. If they try to let me go for that reason, fine with me, I'll collect my unemployment and move on. But they better come up with a REAL reason to let me go.

They just don't want to pay MTs what they're worth and give them decent benefits. Does anyone ever stop to think about the fact that non-MT employees at Nuance already have good benefits? The benefits paid out to MTs are not the same benefits paid out to other employees. They get better health insurance plans and premiums, sick time, paid vacation and bonuses. Other Nuance employees are already receiving these benefits so why the discrimination against the MTs??

It wont kill them to make-up the difference for MTs who live in states with a higher minimum wage and give them the same benefits they give non-MT employees. If Paul Ricci gave every US MT in this company $1000 right now out of his own pocket, he wouldn't miss a nickel of it and would still be living high on the hog. And that's just coming out of his pocket alone, we're not even talking about the profits Nuance brings in.

Of this total $800,000 was received as a salary, $300,000 was received as a bonus, $0 was received in stock options, $27,900,000 was awarded as stock and $226,829 came from other types of compensation.

This is public knowledge. I just googled his name and income for 2014 and it came up the first thing at the top of the page on google. He made more money in 1 year than what most doctors make in 5 years.

they will likely be able to skirt the issue by stating that the PTO time is available to be taken for those 3 paid sick days.

I don't know if that has to be offered by the employer or if it can be set up somehow by anyone who qualifies due to a high-deductible insurance plan. I was just curious about what employees thought of Nuance on Glassdoor.  You read several US employee opinions and they reflect the morale listed on MTStars.  Scroll further down and read the opinions of the transcriptionists from India.  What a difference.  They are highly satisfied with their jobs and most have been working with Nuance for 6 to 7 years.  The US transcriptionists are very sad!!  What a difference..... ...

According to a poster below which has apparently already attended one of the payroll meetings (as the poster posted) for nuance they have decided to keep the incentive part of all of our pay going with an exception that now you have to have over the industry standard of 98% to get a production based incentive. In addition (if this poster is accurate) they have again cut the overall pay from 8 and 4 to 3 3/4 AND 7 1/2. This is nothing but a bunch of crapploa...an MT who is now getting ...

Someone jumps on this board, fires it all up by saying to use F11 for every ASR job, and then calls their CCM to say "read the MTstars board" and then they go check who is doing it and fires them, all the while the pot-stirrer looks all cutsie in the CCMs eyes and more work opens up for the pot-stirrer?Maybe it is my wild imagination, but it seems like all that "stop typing for a day" and if that does not work, then "stop typing for 2 days," and "use F11 for all ASR jobs," all feels so not ...
