FIESA Γ’€“ Miniature writeups. - Just a thought

Posted: Jun 30, 2014

After reading responses to a post I made last week, and then the many posts about FIESA over the weekend, a thought occurred to me.

Basically, FIESA is like they're giving us a "write up," or a warning, and that each time we sign our initials, we are signing that writeup.  Not that they need or require a reason to let most of us go, but this is a perfect way to protect themselves.  They won't allow us to write comments in those boxes.  We get reprimanded if we do.  Just our initials and "reviewed" or whatnot.  That feels like a writeup to me!

And this is also ammunition to take to the DOL for our wages for them.  Why would you give someone a raise who is constantly getting written up for failing to maintain required quality standards?  You wouldn't.

And for those of us on Dictaphone, those who can't listen to our reports after they're submitted, it's even worse because when we contest and ask for our TSM to listen, we have to trust that they are listening and are actually on our side.

I don't know about you, but I don't like the idea of being forced to make and then tie the rope that will be use to hang me.

I cannot relisten to the supposed error either - so I never

initial any of them. Why would I? It's such a flawed, inconsistent and nonsensical program. It's really ridiculous and shouldn't even exist.

It's NOT for learning. It's for reprimanding and making sure the majority do not get the bonus. That's it.

Would love to know who the original individual was that came up with FIESA in the first place and who the rest of the morons were that went along with it and decided to actually implement it. I understand quality control but FIESA is just plain the wrong way to go about it.

Writeups - Curious

I wonder what would happen if I put my intials and then a comment that said "Initaled under duress."

I've done that once or twice. (Different company). - It was ignored, but I made sure

[ In Reply To ..]
to keep a copy of it on file at home. "Just in case." They may think they're the only ones who can play hardball, but they're wrong.

My thinking, is when I sign off is to provide a comment-sm - anon

[ In Reply To ..]
that includes wording noting I am unable to verify the error. I will therefore meet company standards of signing off the errors but will also be noting that I have not been able to verify the error. I may include words of not being able to listen to report, etc. My concern would be that failing to sign off the reports if it is company policy could be a grounds for dismissal and when I leave, I prefer to do it on my own terms and my own time.

Not allowed to leave other comments - Per TSM

[ In Reply To ..]
(I'm the OP)
I've had multiple TSMs tell me that I am not to leave any comments in that box, even though it is a "comment box." I am to leave my initials and the word "reviewed."

That's it!

When I tried to leave additional comments, I was told that was not allowed and I would get in trouble if I continued to do so. Hence my initial concerns.

Have to say I have not - been told that

[ In Reply To ..]
I almost always say a few words, sometimes (rarely ;-) even express appreciation that they caught something before it went to the customer. Sometimes I say right there that I'm submitting it for reversal. Have never been asked not to comment.

So why do they have a comment box and then - tell you not to use it?

[ In Reply To ..]
I mean, if they really don't want MTs writing any comments on their writeups, it would seem more intelligent on their part to not put the boxes in, wouldn't it? Man, they've got skills, don't they?

Every time my company wrote me up, I'd take - it right to the edge every time. --

[ In Reply To ..]
I'd refuse to sign, "forget" to read the email, "forget" to sign, sign in the wrong place, and then ultimately keep on doing things the way I was doing them before. I'd get second, third, even got a fourth writeup one time, even though they said they'd fire me after the third one.

Eventually I got bored with all their little games, and when a viable job came along, I took it. I gave them roughly 5 minutes' notice when I quit. Just long enough to shut down my PC.

What Happened To An Honest Day’s Work For An Honest Day’s Pay
Jul 29, 2010

It is amazing that more people are not committing suicide.  I guess that goes to the underlying optimism that human beings are inherently born with.   We always think there is good in all people and that we will be protected from evil.   But, what happened to an honest day’s work for an honest day’s pay?  Every day there are posts about people working hard for their paltry wages, only to be paid late or not paid at all.  We cannot even apply for a job ...

Happy Mother’s Day To All.
May 08, 2011

With the transcription industry ever changing b___ s___ with paycuts, outsourcing, VR and big corporations taking over, being a mother is the most important job some of us have.  The only good benefits we have today as transcriptionists are we can be home with our children and we can avoid the gas guzzling drive to work.  So remember do not let the industry bring us down as we are mothers in this hard time for transcriptionists.  ...

Just venting……..I am so bummed.  I was doing so well a couple of years ago.  I was working as a Radiology Transcriptionist for six years for a very, very large radiology facility, two days in the office and the rest of the week from home in the evenings.  Then they went to VR, but kept me on because the some of the docs were not complying with VR so those reports had to be typed and in addition I was doing editing.  I was making good money and was able to put aw ...

TRANSCRIPTION CHALLENGES IN A TECHNOLOGICAL NUTSHELL…
Aug 28, 2013

Transcription is becoming a lost art.  With the arrival of voice/speech recognition software, which captures sounds and “magically” turns them into words (albeit not always the correct ones), the specialty field of transcription has become an endangered livelihood.  Unfortunately, forgotten along the way are the skills and talents a good transcriptionist possesses to make a document accurate and easily readable.  The bottom line, as with most things, is the Almighty Do ...

Are Unenthusiastic Workers Hurting Your Business’s Bottom Line?
Jun 24, 2013

By Sarah Halzack,  Updated: Monday, June 24, 9:15 AM If employees don’t like their boss or aren’t stimulated by their work, can that lack of enthusiasm weigh on a company’s bottom line? That was the question that Gallup set out to answer in a new study that compared workers by categorizing them in to three groups: “engaged” workers, those who are passionate about and committed to their work; “not engaged,” those who are coasting; and &ld ...
