Posted: Jul 30, 2013

Hey out there!! I know, I know, asked and answered many times, BUT, does ANYONE know of a great co.with straight typing, where headers count, where a person can make a great line count like they used to? Does anyone want to earn a sign on bonus?? (That is of course if your co. offers one.) Does such a place exist?? Come in MT sisters, help a gal outΓ°Ÿ˜ I would love to pay my rent and have more than $10 to spread out for 2 weeksΓ°Ÿ˜Β° Thanks for your help!!!

Time to doff the jammies, slide into those loafters, and apply outside the home. Either that or find a man to support you. The companies with qualities you mention are either: (a) waiting for their buyout offer from the big cheese, or (b) have a waiting list of MTs desperate to work for them a mile long. People who work there already arent budging, that is FER SUR. Ignoring the end of this career won't pay your rent. When one door closes and another opens, you probably have a ghost in your house.

Bottom line...get out of THIS business while you're still young enough to change professions. This business is dying and will never come back. We have greed and the government to thank. Greed because of the companies sending our work offshore and government because of the mandates associated with Obamacare that start in January 2014. ALL facilities MUST be switched over to electronic medical record keeping by then. It's a law that they must. The doctors will be creating their own reports and a medical transcriptionist will no longer be needed. You will get the occasional doctor who refuses to work anymore than they already are and will want to hire what they are calling "Scribes" and these people will follow the doctor on his rounds/appointments, etc. and create the reports for them. It will be a good paying job but it will not be from home. You will have to drive to work in all kinds of weather, forego many holidays, basically keep the same schedule your physician keeps, put on makeup and spend countless dollars on clothes, gasoline (which has reached almost $4 a gallon here), wear and tear on your vehicle and many other things one is not accustomed to doing working from home. I wish you good luck!

Paying rent, etc. - Fact checking

FYI - It is not a "law" that all facilities be switched over to electronic medical record keeping by January. There are financial incentives to do so, however, and in order to receive payment on Medicare it is a requirement. Some physicians are opting out of Medicare altogether and some refuse to accept Medicare patients because of the mandates. In regard to the electronic medical record, that means a paperless chart, and whether or not you realize it, that has been in place for probably a decade. People drive to the office, etc. all the time; deal with it if you want a job. I work on site and have never foregone a holiday. If you work at home for an MTSO you are foregoing plenty of holidays and probably some weekends too, trust me on this. Use public transportation if you don't want to pay for gas or wear and tear on your car. Good luck to you as well.

I am trying DESPERATELY to find a job outside of my home, this not knowing how much money I have coming in from month to month is killing me as well. I pretty much don't care what kind of a job I get as long as I KNOW what my hourly wage is and I KNOW how many hours per week I can work. I don't know how MTSOs think anyone can run a household on this "maybe you have work, maybe you don't" times of today! Even if you DO happen to find a "good company", I mean, how long will it last? I personally wouldn't care if a company offered me 12 cpl right now I wouldn't take the job, because just as soon as I felt "stable" in my salary, SOMETHING would happen.

It's job outside of the home or bust for me, so please wish me luck, put good thoughts in the atmosphere, pray for me or whatever you believe:)

Synernet has straight typing but you'll probably have sm - Synernet MT

to work 2nd or 3rd shift. The pay is not great, but you can make a decent living.

Thank you Synernet!! ΓƒƒΓ‚°Ã¯¿½ï - ??

Thanks so much!! Probably like most, I was or thought I was, more productive. It makes no sense, but there you have it. Plus, if I remember correctly we were compensated for headers and such

Give Synernet a try - I did and have not regretted

2012 my in-house position (although working remotely) was sold out to a company and we basically lost our jobs. At 57, I wanted out of MT'ing. Because of my age, no one would hire me. I saw an opening for Synernet, passed test, and accepted the job, even though the pay is 7 cpl. I was able to achieve 2000 lines the 2nd week of employment. The benefits are good, 401k, retirement, profit sharing, 26 paid PTO days a year, short and longterm disability paid by company, 60.00 pay period for BC/BS, 4 dollars for dental. I am able to make a decent living. Does it compare to the 45,000 to 50,000 I was making, no. I have had to budget, but I am not stressed out, and I am living comfortably and will most likely retire from Synernet. email me if you have further questions.

Just venting……..I am so bummed.  I was doing so well a couple of years ago.  I was working as a Radiology Transcriptionist for six years for a very, very large radiology facility, two days in the office and the rest of the week from home in the evenings.  Then they went to VR, but kept me on because the some of the docs were not complying with VR so those reports had to be typed and in addition I was doing editing.  I was making good money and was able to put aw ...

Feb 01, 2012

I just need to vent…. I’ve been working part time as an IC for a hospital in the Midwest for about 10 months now. They actually found my resume online and contacted me.   I was already working 2 other part time jobs which really took up a lot of my time, but of course, not much money involved, so I decided to take it.    I did all the training and caught on very quickly.  In the beginning, I was able to work whenever I wanted since work was plentiful. ...

TRANSCRIPTION CHALLENGES IN A TECHNOLOGICAL NUTSHELL…
Aug 28, 2013

Transcription is becoming a lost art.  With the arrival of voice/speech recognition software, which captures sounds and “magically” turns them into words (albeit not always the correct ones), the specialty field of transcription has become an endangered livelihood.  Unfortunately, forgotten along the way are the skills and talents a good transcriptionist possesses to make a document accurate and easily readable.  The bottom line, as with most things, is the Almighty Do ...

How Do You Pay The Rent?
Nov 05, 2014

I'm wondering how many of you Nuance employees make about $1,200 a month (ncome minus taxes deposited directly to bank)? And if so, how do you live on that? I'm able to because I live alone and have no kids to support, only a cat. And my rent is only $300 because I live in an apartment in which my brother is the landlord. As such, I'm able to afford all the basic things and everything is clean, I'm able to buy new shoes and underwear and even occasionally go on a bargai ...

What Happened To An Honest Day’s Work For An Honest Day’s Pay
Jul 29, 2010

It is amazing that more people are not committing suicide.  I guess that goes to the underlying optimism that human beings are inherently born with.   We always think there is good in all people and that we will be protected from evil.   But, what happened to an honest day’s work for an honest day’s pay?  Every day there are posts about people working hard for their paltry wages, only to be paid late or not paid at all.  We cannot even apply for a job ...

FIESA – Miniature Writeups.
Jun 30, 2014

After reading responses to a post I made last week, and then the many posts about FIESA over the weekend, a thought occurred to me.  Basically, FIESA is like they're giving us a "write up," or a warning, and that each time we sign our initials, we are signing that writeup.  Not that they need or require a reason to let most of us go, but this is a perfect way to protect themselves.  They won't allow us to write comments in those boxes.  We get reprimanded if we do. ...
