Any Accentus/former Zylomed people get the - good news???
Posted: Feb 21, 2014
Does not sound so good to me...... As of April 16 we are now employees. I have always been an IC. I do not follow a "web clock." I have always just done my accounts by the TAT required and have been left alone. My last 3 audits have 100, 100 and 99%. I am curious what is in store. I have read a lot of things on this site about minimum wage, etc. I would not even turn over in bed for minimum wage, so I guess I am curious about other MTs in my boat and what they think and plans they might be making now that we have had the "good news."

Same here. I will wait and see what happens. If it's anything like I've read on here, I won't stay.

I much prefer IC status and will listen to what they have to say but more than likely will be searching for another IC position.
I think it will be a big change.... sm - BBMT

.. to go from an IC to an employee. I started out with On-Time which was bought out by Accentus, and then that was bought out by Nuance. I'm sure the cpl rate will go down since taxes are being taken out (employee status will make tax time a little less painful I hope). I guess we can choose whether or not we want to have the medical plan, which would further cut into the paycheck. I'm wondering if we will stay with the accounts we have now though. I don't think Nuance does exclusive dictators, which is what I have now. I have exclusive dictators that I alone am responsible for. I'm assuming as an employee it will be pool-type work. Set schedules is another thing I'm curious about. I've just always kept my account in TAT and that's all that was required. Sometimes I can't sleep, and I jump on at 3am to work for a bit. It's nice to have that flexibility, which is why I chose to be an IC in the first place.
I'm perfectly willing to give it a shot though. When Accentus took over On-Time lots of MTs chose to leave. I stayed to at least see what was in store, and I loved the changes, namely having exclusive dictators and getting paid every 2 weeks instead of once a month. I guess I'll do what I did then and hope for the best and prepare for the worst. Though I must say, reading the Nuance board here is NOT very encouraging! Good luck to us all! :)
Flexibility - Got Out

Believe me, there is no flexibility with your hours...unless they need you for TAT jobs. We were told we couldn't come on at hours when we weren't supposed to work unless we got permission first, and if you're gonna miss your set schedule then you better have a darn good reason!

You can say goodbye to ANY kind of flexibility. I speak from firsthand experience. You all might be given a little leeway at first because of all of the transition changes taking place, BUT eventually that leeway will disappear completely overnight. You are going to have to pick a set schedule and you are going to have to stick to it unless there is a dire emergency (like maybe you die while sitting at your computer) OR unless you request paid time off within a certain timeframe PRIOR to the day(s) you need or want off(that is if you have any PTO or even qualify for any). Like I said, they may not be real rigid about the "flexibility" at first, but you can bet your last dollar that as soon as the last change has been put into place with the transition, you'll be held to whatever schedule you tell them you will be working. The only time that there is ANY flexibility is when they need "extra" help for huge backlogs and/or accounts that are out of turnaround time, and then it's perfectly okay to work outside your set schedule, outside your regular working hours, and nearly always on your days off IF they are begging for help.
I had the exact same attitude that you have right now when my MTSO was snatched up by Nuance because I had gone through a previous buyout and had not had any negative impact from that one.... I wish I had listened to my "intuition" and got out at the very beginning, but I didn't and now I'm paying dearly for it...
Flexibility is just one of the reasons I used to LOVE what I do because that flexibility allowed me to work full-time AND manage to have a personal life too. Now, all I have is a job that stresses me out on a daily basis and does not pay nearly enough to endure the level of stress dished out.
Will they let you remain in IC status? - Lee

Just wondering if there will be an option to stay in IC status or if you have to go to employee status.

That's how long since Accentus first bought us out (November 2010)then Nuance until we are to become "assimilated" in April 2014. I was beginning to hope they had forgotten about us! The e-mail was titled "exciting news from Nuance." I immediately got a knot in my stomach.
I will try it but only because I have some loose ends in my life to clear up before I can look for a new job. I have gone through this with another company and could not make minimum wage. I left before I could be fired for not making minimum wage although they said I was eligible for re-hire when I left. They have to pay you the minimum for your state if you are an employee.
I will probably be looking for another IC position, part time, maybe overflow work and hopefully for doctors I can hear! I know, that is a lot to ask for, but I have been through hell and back with the other company and am older and I just can't handle that much stress anymore. I wonder if they give you free movie tickets for being the ticket-taker at the theatre !!?? I could go back to college but would be eligible to retire by the time I finished!

I dread being placed in a pool plus having to punch in and out. There's not enough time entries available for as many times as I start and stop during the day, although I always make my TAT. But again, my biggest fear is I'll be back to SR editing. Not that it's hard, but it's terribly dull, puts me to sleep, causes major eye strain, as well as it kills my hand. It's a lot of right-handed work with arrow keys, deletes, etc. I left a company before because I couldn't sit and stare at the computer for 8 straight hours and correct the same words over and over. You think after months of the same dictator with the same report types the software would learn how to detect Texas and not taxes.

Nuance/Formerly Accentus - Formerly Zylomed Nov 25, 2013Has anyone on the clinic side (Formerly Zylomed) of things heard anything at all about some of the things posted here on the Nuance board? Also, other questions are:
1) The only thing I've been hearing for months is that things "on our side" (meaning the Formerly Zylomed folks) will stay the same - that we'll keep our own exclusives, etc. Has anyone else heard that or heard anything different?
2) Does anyone know what will become of current ICs? Will the ...
