Can someone help me with my math. If 1 point gets taken off for an error how does that constitute a 96%?. Does that mean that 2 + 2 = 5. If so, I guess I'm all over it.

Please help me with comprehension, I'm feeling really dumb and really pure!

Almost same amount of lines 100s, but this one 1 point and 96. Unless this 1 point is weighted heavily for 4 points, it still does not add up. Probably very typical for this organization do you suppose?

Go ahead and take a point off for that error in spelling as well! This company is a nuisance to society. What is really amazing is that clients seem to be leaving like rats leaving a sinking ship. Who could blame them.

I'm sure there's an easier way to do this, but here's the formula:
Multiply total points x 100.
Divide your answer by the number of lines in the job.
The result is the number of points subtracted off 100% to get your accuracy rating.
EXAMPLE: Job with 111 lines and 1.25 points off in errors. 1.25 times 100 = 125. 125 divided by 111 = 1.125 (rounded to 1.13). Subtract the 1.13 from 100% and you're left with 98.87% accuracy (and a headache, lol).

I never understood why the denominator should be "line." Aren't 99% of the errors in a single word or number? It seems like errors to a single word or number should be graded as a single word or number, and thus the formula should divide by the number of words in the report, not the number of lines. So in the example you provided, the 125 should be divided by 111 times 10, the approximate number of words in a line.

So the true accuracy would be about 100 -(1.25 x 100)/1110 = 99.9999% or better.

The best accuracy would be based on the true word count, which is available automatically in Word. No reason why this more accurate method could not be used.

So in my opinion, we are all about 10 times more accurate than reported by QA.

The way it is now calculated is just another ploy to demoralize natural-born perfectionists. This is why I pay as little attention to my accuracy gradings as I possible can, because they are lies about my true accuracy, and I don't like reading lies about myself. No matter how many times I remind myself about the bogus formula they use, it still gets to me and lowers my mood. (I am a relative newbie and have not become hardened up yet.)

This is all particularly irksome when the correction is debatable or even in error! It is 10 times the insult!

I was actually going to post to ask if anyone was optimistic about ever receiving the newest bonus? I do believe the system is rigged. I had a report where I had a deduction for putting commas instead of semicolons between each drug listed. Evidently the QC wanted me to put semicolons after the first comma or something inexplicable like that. I will never, ever get 100% and lately have not been able to manage 99% (although I am scraping perilously close for this quarter - and expect to get shot down momentarily for some ridiculous minutiae). I am so frustrated and losing confidence, which is certainly the LAST thing the company would want. Anyone else having the same difficulty?

I have said this before on this board: The bonus is not worth the stress and worry. If you are lucky enough to get it, hooray!

I spend the time and energy I used to spend triple-checking reports and challenging audits on my second job (not related in any way to MT!), and overall, I come out ahead. Not to mention, my confidence does not take so many hits, and my mood is much better. My whole attitude about the job is much more balanced & healthy, I think, since I quit striving for the bonus.

What makes me angry is that I used to get the bonus regularly! It is very suspicious that suddenly (in the midst of nitpicking over commas, etc.) I am apparently unable to get to 99%. I am very close at 98.85, but I don't think I will be able to inch that up by the end of the month. And, actually, the bonus incentive provides a huge addition to my regular pay at the number of lines I (used) to produce, anyway. Not so much since this latest account I am on. But I agree, not thinking about a bonus is probably the best way to go.
