Dumb question why are getting paid min wage SM - lost in all the changes

I thought we got min wage for NJA. I was reading some of the other posts, that suggest otherwise. Can someone please clear this up for me, I have been losing my mind lately and don't clearly anymore.

I think you might be confused about the payment of minimum wage for two separates issues.

NJA....they will pay minimum wage or more in certain states. It all depends on the labor laws of your individual state. If I remember correctly those states are CA, NY and possibly NJ and AZ.

Being paid min. wage for your actual hours worked....if your production is lowered enough (usually based on having to type all ASR), and you are actually earning less than minimum wage per hour, then they have to pay you your state's minimum wage rate for the hours you worked. I have had checks where only a certain number of my hours were paid at minimum wage, and the rest were paid at whatever amount I made on production that day. Unfortunately, this last check was 100% minimum wage for the hours worked:( I would have to consistently type 175 lph on ASR to just meet the minimum wage rate! That is SO WRONG. As we all know, getting close to 200 lph on MQ's version of ASR is next to impossible unless you have a cake account.

We were led to believe in the beginning that we would be able to do 300-400 lph on ASR. I struggle most days to get my minimum of 150 per hour on that crap. I used to straight type 250 some hours. So wrong.

It depends entirely on what state you live in as to whether you will get paid at least minimum wage for NJA.

If your state requires minimum wage for NJA, the Q will pay it.

If you live in one of the states that doesn't require it, the Q won't pay it and you're on your own.

Some states like CA actually pay a few hours of your BENEFIT rate when you get NJA. Wouldn't that be nice?

Is that the same as the minimum wage, or is the benefit rate different?

the benefit rate is the hourly rate you would be paid for your PTO. It is different for everyone. In the past it was calculated every 6 months based on your average production, but I'm not sure how it is being calculated now with all the changes that have been going on.

If you work for a transcription company on a VA hospital contract, you should be paid a minimum hourly wage as well as receive benefits per the Service Contract Act. I took a job with DIT transcription. I know. My thinking was that I could get some experience to take elsewhere because they were the only company that would hire me, and most companies clearly state that you need "on the job experience."
