Accentus/Nuance - Anyone not making line count - Kip

Anyone not making line count for Accentus? I am making about half required and will have 2 weeks to make line count. Canadian accounts. What happens if I cannot make it, will they let me go?

Canadian accounts are hard because there is so much more to learn. I have one as a secondary and if it was my primary I probably would have trouble too. I had some friends who didn't get their lines up and they were put on "performance plans" for a while. They were able to get off the performance plans in a month and they were not fired. Good luck!

Some of the lab values are very different, for one thing. - have to learn whole new ranges, etc.

British spellings for some things, like colour vs. color, favour, etc.

Centre, physiology, respirology, for a few of the spellings...easy enough...but add to that new labs normal values (hemoglobin in the 100s) to master, some of the medications are the same but others are different (glicazide NOT glipizide), AND at the least the one I am on is a huge medical center with many satellites and needing to learn all of those, plus the multitude of rules for each, and the multitude of docs names and a whole spreadsheet of info for how to look up all of these names (some by name search/facility, others by specialty) and we are expected to look all of those up or get dinged, (not paid of course for the multitude of copies and research this requires) and it adds up to a pretty dismal line count.

Does anyone else have problems sometimes making the minimum line count that their company requires? Some days I make it & some days I don't. The other day for example, I worked 2 hours (partied too hard for Christmas Day the day before) & I made 13 lines over the minimum requirement. I just got an e-mail from my supervisor saying this today. I have been having a hard time making 192 lines per hour on SR reports. That is way over what I was hired to do at 127.5 lines per hour. Now they say SR reports are counted as 2/3 of a line, so we should really be doing 192 lines per hour if they are SR reports. In addition, one patient had the wrong birthdate on the patient panel. I think the lines are padded. After typing all day at break neck speed, I am shocked at the end of the day how low my line count is. I work for another company doing the same thing, just as fast, and I get double the lines. Well, we will never know because at Nuance we can't copy the report and paste it into Word to get a line count because it is blocked, I think they do that on purpose and that way we can't check our lines to see if it is accurate, which I know ...

I can do it most of the time, but every now and then I miss it, sometimes by as much as 20 lines per hour. I have had 1 email asking that I use my time more productively and make the line count. I actually do use my time as productively as I can. I admit, although I have done this for years, I am not great with VR editing. I do have some benefits with the VR job, but not good enough to even take them on right now. After 3 months I will start accruing PTO up to 12 days a year. Is it worth it? I was thinking having benefits would be really nice for once in the last 16 years, but now I am thinking it may not be worth the struggle to make a living on VR. I was just hired on with a company to do strictly VR. I am only going to be working part time so about 4 hours a day. I am wondering from those who do VR what kind of line production should I shoot for in 4 hours of work? What is the normal VR line count for part time? I have read that most who are working full time or 8 hours a day are doing more than 1,000, even 2,000 a day. The company I will be working for wants a minimum of 10,000 lines in a payperiod which the lady said even with part time ...

Is this correct? I type 70,000 characters a day. I am paid by the 65 character line so I would divide 70,000 by 65 to get 1076, then multiple that by pay per line, say $.10 and get $107. If this is not correct then what is the formula? And what is the average number of lines per day? Thanks so much for the info. ...

I was wondering if anyone could tell me what is the easiest way to not count template lines when trying to invoice? I get a line count through Word, but I hear that Word counts blank spaces as well. I downloaded and use Flash Count, but it includes all 65 character lines, I beleive including the template headings. I hope this makes sense. Please help!! ...

I have been doing about half and half, VR and straight transcription for the past three months - is anybody making any money doing this? My line rate, of course, is half of my regular transcription rate (like that is fair, right?). I really would like to hear from anyone who has been there for a matter of days to 2 months.
