how many are working in helper pools now? - sm

I'm PT, and I have had a dramatic reduction in hours for the past 2 weeks, along with helper pools making up 95% of the work I do get, of course assuming there is no NJA.

Is it just me? Am I on the hit list? I do make 9 cpl on straight, but I type mostly ASR.

I think that the Q is still eliminating MTs however they can.

I think that the few MTs that remain on US soil will have to be CMTs and that they will have to jump from account to account all day long. There will be no primary or secondary, etc... It will all be 1 giant Helper Pool to India.

So, if you are planning on staying with this sinking ship, plan on doing this kind of work daily.

I get put into the helper pool a lot these days. I'm part-time and was getting NJA for about a week when the Spheris merger happened, then all of a sudden I'm in a helper pool. In the "good old days" I had 3 primaries but had all the work I needed from just 2 of them. Now, I have 6 primaries and run out of work in them and get thrown into the helper pool on a regular basis. On Sunday I typed a couple of helper pool reports and they were sent to QA without my knowledge as I guess that account was 100% QA. I didn't get a score with these, so I knew they weren't part of my regular QA audit. I don't know what's going on. I'd say that probably 75% of the dictation I get now is 100% crap--bad audio, bad ESL dictators, mumbling dictators, etc. I really hate my job most of the time now.

I am part-time and ended up getting NJA on my primary. I was moved with my primary to another CCM when Spheris was bought out. Then I ended up getting nothing but NJA. Too many ticket numbers to keep track of. No helper pool, just a 200.00 paycheck.

All of a sudden, I had work for the last week and a half, but will be moving to ANOTHER group, CCM, and another new account.

WHATEVER! Time to go back to school!

It has become obvious that a company is putting us in work pools, NOT to get improved TAT, but to either play favorites or to give the primo/better dictators to the MTs who cannot handle the crappiest dictators. I have noted that I have had the same lousy dictators over and over again, no matter what time of day I work or which days of the week. I never seem to get the ones that I consider better dictators, nor do I seem to be getting the long consults (which I also like). ...

As of late, I am wondering. They are nice and all, but my primary account has been running out of work. I purposely work 2nd shift knowing a lot of people want to work days and all so I can avoid the lack of work issue. It just seems weird. Up until now (12 years with this company) I have not failed an audit, always 99% or above, and they do an audit once a month on my accounts plus the client audits. We recently were given "helper" accounts for 2 days when our work got low and I was more than happy to help out, as always. There were many difficult ESL dictators and complicated CPs. I have an odd question. If a US trained Medical Transcriptionist works from home (in the U.S.), but then decides to spend 1/2 the year (or more) in a foreign country, is it possible (ethical/legal) to continue working as an MT while in that country? The MT would keep the US address, and bank account. All paychecks would continue to be direct deposited into current U.S. bank account. MT would continue to pay U.S. taxes on all monies earned. I know I am not the only one working 2 jobs or more. Between them I am scheduled 68 hours per week.
