enhanced compensation package definition - Just saying

To attract and retain good employees. They have to do something because they can't afford to lose more people.
That was my theory... - and I could be wrong...

but all this rebranding, mentoring, etc. shows they are in panic mode, with more skilled MTs either leaving from not being able to make a living or retiring and not being able to attract enough skilled replacement workers.
They have realized that VR was not the magic bullet they thought it would be, and at the rates they thought they could get away with paying, no one can make enough money to survive, so their last ditch is "mentoring" before they have to increase pay and benefits to attract people with the skills they need to do the job correctly.
I don't know where the Indians fit into this, but apparently not every hospital wants to use them or maybe they are not cost effective any more. My main account has far more work than they can handle, and are constantly begging for people to work overtime.
Here's hoping these are indicators that show we are turning the corner from the mess created by stingy, short-sighted hospitals and greedy, mismanaged MTSOs.
Like I say though, I could be wrong.
tried to stick it out.. - MT Gone

I had so often thought (hoped) the same thing (even before Spheris was sold to Q); however, things got so bad after 2 pay cuts from the Q, loss of bonuses, and my main account of 10 years going away, I couldn't afford to wait for the inevitble lawsuits to start. Unfortunately, after being considered a "new" employee by Q when I was "bought (sold) out" to them, and with them cutting my pay, that no matter what they offered me I could NEVER trust them again... I'd be constantly looking over my shoulder and watching my back for another "MT Reward." Sorry to say that one more reward would have put me out the door of my home. They did contact me about coming back, but I politely told them I couldn't do that. I was polite cuz I don't want to burn bridges, and it's not like it was the recruiter's fault, just doing her job.
I left MModal back in June with my supervisor telling me that she was expecting to see raises when the new compensation plan was revealed. I was one of the many who took a significant pay cut in July 2011 and finally got out. Just wondering if things are any better at MModal, as was promised. ...
According to Vern in the town hall meeting, an MT went from 169 lph to 295 lph after being mentored.
He said some MTs had experienced a 72% (I may be a little off) increase in pay after being mentored.
So there ya go, be mentored and earn more.
It's magic! ...
I have done very few of these, and I am not really sure of where all the commas go in the technique. He kind of just runs it all together.
TECHNIQUE: The following sequences were obtained: Parasagittal axial T1, precontrast axial whole brain postcontrast T1, thin section axial coronal T1 postcontrasted fat sat through the orbits and face, thin section axial coronal FSEIR through the face and orbits, axial diffusion FLAIR T2 gradient sequences.
Thanks for the help! ...
Thought I would share info about the lay-off packageI finally got that was promised me when I got the call last week. The first page was a letter explaining that "after the company's review and restructure of our Operations business model, the decision was made to eliminate your position" (I was PT, working 3 week days and 1 week night, Tier I, in the North region). It goes on to say it was a difficult decision and that they appreciated the contributions I made to M*M. They also ...
Just interviewed with Meridian, forgot to ask if they are IC or employee and do they pay for spaces, can anyone help? Also, how long before I can expect the "employee package?" Thanks. ...
Has anyone heard the phrase "office artifact"? It sounds like he's saying that or "off its artifact" and is referencing a tremor. Any help is appreciated. ...
I'm new to this - what does "go live" actually mean? Is it when it goes from strictly straight typing to VR? Or is it when an MTSO gets a brand new acct? Thanks! ...
Can someone provide me with a link to a legal definition of an independent contractor? I had taken a temporary job with a woman who had a small MTSO and was without a contract. She effectively bamboozled me but I did file a W9 with her. Any help will be appreciated. Feel free to email me with sensitive information if necessary. Thanks. ...
I work in the medical transcription industry. My employer is in TN. We are required to work 40 hours per week, and we are paid on the basis of lines of dictation we transcribe per day. Many days there is not enough work during a shift (a shift given us by our employer) to complete our 8 hours of work. This means that in order to comply with company request, we have to work 2 to 3 hours at night to complete our 40 hours, even though we have sat at our desks and continually check ...
would anyone out there happen to know how Keystrokes defines a work week? Does it start on Sun and go thru Sat or start on Mon and end Sun. (I have been offered a position and would be curious as to the above). Thanks!!! ...
I am looking for some clarification on the definition, as per the IRS website, of an "independent contractor." With the majority of companies now hiring MTs as IC's, does this definition apply ?
"You are not an independent contractor if you perform services that can be controlled by an employer (what will be done and how it will be done). This applies even if you are given freedom of action. What matters is that the employer has the legal right to control the details of how the servi ...
Can someone define for me exactly what "straight transcription" is when a company advertises for it.... I am an IC looking for the best possible line rate. Thanks! ...
I get notices of major errors and don't see anything about what constitutes a major error. It sounds subjective to me! I'm more than fed up with this punitive grading system. ...
As I understand it, according to IRS definition of an IC, the IC cannot be tested. If this is so, how do the transcription companies get away with testing for IC positions as mentioned in their ads. Is this legal?

Independent Contractor Defined
People such as doctors, dentists, veterinarians, lawyers, accountants, contractors, subcontractors, public stenographers, or auctioneers who are in an independent trade, business, or profession in which they offer their services to the general public are generally independent contractors. However, whether these people are independent contractors or employees depends on the facts in each case. The general rule is that an individu ...
One company lists compensation as: "$1.06 per dictated minute & up depending on acute experience and operative report experience.."
I've always been paid per line and am not familiar at all with this form of compensation.. Does anyone have any experience with this, and does it sounds okay? It's an IC position.
Thanks. ...
Hello. I have requested and been approved for some PTO hours for Christmas Eve. On the time log I just approved, it shows the hours but does not show a monetary figure for them. Could anyone tell me how they calculate that?
Thanks! ...
Does anyone know how an MT is compensated when they begin using M*Modal and basically editing? If paid by the line, if M*Modal creates a report consiisting of 75 lines, and you edit a few lines here and there, are you paid for the entire report (the full 75 lines) or just paid for what lines you edit? ...
Sten-Tel has add on MTJobs. Can you believe this compensation? I hope they have NO replies.
" Starting rate ranges: 5–6 cents per transcribed line; 2-3 cents per edited line." ...
No one ever said for sure if this compensation had been to offset insurance costs, MUP or whatever? I didn't get it and am curious why it was not across the board. They may have been caught with their pants down on this one. ...
