A community of 30,000 US Transcriptionist serving Medical Transcription Industry
I just wanted to wish all of you good luck if you get the offer and want to take the test for the coding class. We all have to decide what is best for ourselves. I really hope this is a postive offer. I understand totally how so many of us feel stuck where we are because our workload and pay have changed so much. As others have advised, I would definitely get all the answers. Unfortunately in the medical transcription world we feel we are fighting just to be able to do our job, even though that is all we want to do, transcribe correct reports. My feeling is we were a part of a "caring team" for the patient, wanting to get that report done correctly, worked hard to meet TAT. To me the "care" has been taken out of the medical profession and replaced with "profit." Much of this has been instituted by the companies that go into a facility and present a way to reduce their costs by replacing their inhouse transcriptionists; these transcriptionists aren't people, they are just a hinderence to the making a profit. Add that to the companies that fed the administrators the VR capabilities that are a joke. The ones that make the decisions are not the ones doing the work, only look at the bottom profit margin. It is a sad world, not only for us but many others.
So best of luck to those who decide to pursue this. I do hope it is positive.
