MQ job offer today - MT2

MQ has scheduled an offer phone call for me today. I am kind of scared. I have many years into MT and thought I might as well since they will someday employ me through buyouts anyway. Is there any good reasons why I should accept the job. Or should I avoid the call and just keep sending out resumes. Please if there is anything good to say now is the time because I am 50/50 on taking the chance. Thanks.

run, don't walk away from this offer. Keep sending out resumes, and PRAY your company is never bought out by the "sQuid." Used to think everyone on here were whiners and slackers, then my company was bought out....that's why I am MT GONE!!!

Part of me says it is only logical to take it b/c it is the responsible thing to do. But I believe that could possibly be the self-destructive thing in me which is the wrong thing to do. This profession has me so confused I thought that if I gave in once and for all I would have stability in my life and finances. However, what you say is what my heart says so I will heed. I already have a job and it is ok, I just needed more money, as we all do, but I will just wait and pray...that all will be ok...don't want to make a bad/horrible step...

If you are taking on an extra job to make more money, you will not find it at Medquist. I am a single mom who has been with this company for 14 years and I'm on food stamps. My situation is not unique.

You will be much, much happier somewhere else. With so many of us jumping this sinking ship, I am amazed that anyone would even consider getting tangled up in it - for ANY reason.

I am no longer associated with the Squid and it is the best thing that ever happened to me. The day that happened, I didn't react. I wasn't sad, upset, or crying or worried. I felt weight leave my shoulders. The company I am with now treats us like people. I am happy and feel valued. Being separated from the squid was the best thing that could have happened to me! I feel better mentally!

What offer? They pay 4 cpl asr. End of story. Can you - work for that? nm

At 4 cpl how long do you think it will take for you to pay back a computer you had to buy just so you could work? Not to mention the benefits are lousy and apparently now you can't get dental or vision or life insurance without buying the health insurance which is catastrophic both in lack of coverage and price.

Last but not least, if you send more than 5% to QA you will be docked 3 cpl which means you will be making 1 cent per line!!!

If you are looking for positives I would say be thankful you are not working here and keep looking. Anywhere is better than here. The only good thing I can say is they pay on time, but even that excuse is getting weary.

With MQ you do not have to have your own computer. They will provide you with one.

Any new hires are required to provide their own computers. Also new hires get paid 4 cpl ASR no matter what tier.

I have 2 job offers from 2 different companies, but both of these companies are fairly large and have multiple posts with complaints that there is just not enough work for everyone. Wow. I was just offered a job by MQ. I politely asked if the 'rumors' were true about being docked for sending reports to QA. I was informed that if you are supposed to do 6,000 lines a week and 300 lines total come to QA, then yes you would be docked 3 cents per line. This would be for a full-time position and I have over 10 years experience (but none with VR). I'm currently on unemployment earning around $1500 a month. I am an MT with 20+ years experience and switched careers a year ago when our hospital's Transcription Department was eliminated and all transcription was outsourced. I lost my job a few months ago. I started applying, testing, waiting to hear from companies. I did get hired this week part-time for VRE work and it pays peanuts. I got a job offer at Probity. The pay has an incentive built in for anything over 5000 lines per pay period. Does anyone know what the pay period is?
