Why would we write an essay praising a 3 cent cut - sm

in pay for not guessing for a blank? What are they thinking?!?!

On essay from my friend who still works for Evil Q - Bunion

"In regards to the essay contest on why the new program is such a good thing...........

Responding to that request is like trying to convince one to vacation in a concentration camp during WWII. No thanks. I'm neither that creative nor take dirty money. Leave me out on that."

You go girl. I wish I still worked so I could write an essay, because I would let them have it. Well maybe I still will write one and send it in, as maybe they do not relize I am gone for almost a year now. HAHA Could use $1000 bucks. That would be sooooo funny.

Bun, you are on a roll here. NM - They Said What

HI TSW, Hey my friend could not let go, round 2. - Bunion

[ In Reply To ..]
I think I know what you mean by roll, LMAO. I am still laughing!

Please add this to MT stars as well with my other:

They (Medquist) are asking us to write an essay simply because they are not creative enough to find words to convince us that this miserable new program is another "helpful" ticket to our success. Their technicians may be geniuouses at creating more "putting-people-out-of-work" programs, but they are not writers. Personally, this is a job for a politician. No one else is capable for cramming such garbage down our throats and making us swallow it. If a $1000 gift certificiate is worth more to one than your dignity and the ability to sleep at night, go for it. Hitler offered his people the world, as well, for their loyalty. Unfortunately, one is selling their soul to the devil again in this case. What should be done is all Medquist employees should write an essay from their hearts, stating how Medquist is failing their employees terribly and to take their monies and energies into promoting employee-helpful programs with incentives (not de-centives), reward systems (not punishments), and reasons to remain with Medquist as a quality employee. I'm sorry folks, I've given them my all for years and I'm personally tired of getting slapped in the face. THis is the only job I know of where I continue to lose income year after year, continue to have everything taken from me, am now being offered punishment programs which even include prison terms and huge fines for an almost minimal wage job. They may get their essay from me, but it's not going to be what they want.

Come on, since WHEN does MQ do anything GOOD for employees? It is not an - innocent contest . . . .

[ In Reply To ..]
You all better be careful. You do not have a clue of what MQ has coming down the road for all of you.

Their shady lawyers have been working overtime on this one.

Only the mindless fool would enter this "contest." MQ doesn't even pay decent wages, why would they start doing "fun" things with their employees?

I wish in my heart every single MQ employee would not walk into that spider's web.

It is not an innocent "fun" "contest." MQ is not lighthearted, MQ does not care about employees. MQ wants you all to write yourselves out of another court settlement.

MQ is really scraping the bottom this time.

Hey, lurking BM's (board members that is, but the medical meaning is entirely appropriate here, too), don't you think this is about the dirtiest trick you have played yet on these employees?

I think so. I hope the trap comes right back down on your own heads.

No time for fun - anon

[ In Reply To ..]
I have been annoyed for quite some time with all the little word jumbles and games during MT week. When I hurt all over and am working like a mule trying to eek out a living, I dang sure have no energy for anything "fun" regarding MedQuist. Whoever has time to come up with the games and go over the results needs to be fired and dole out their salary to those working.

you are absolutely correct - and I agree

[ In Reply To ..]
with you 100%. This is not an innocent contest. You are handing them written agreement and providing them with all the arguments they need to cover their a$$ if they are taken to court over this. If you write this essay in agreement with them, then you just sealed your fate and the fate of your co-workers.

I really thought that after their last lawsuit and the damage that it did to their reputation that they would try to turn things around and improve themselves as an employer. So, I thought I would apply and see what happens. Thank goodness for this board or I would have never known about their latest scheme. I asked them politely to explain it to me and she very willingly did so, and then I politely declined.

I really believe that the MTs who work at MQ need to band together and file another suit against them. This is deplorable and you would think they would be more cautious and guard their reputation more carefully. The only thing they learned from it is to be more sneaky in how they word things and what they get their MTs to agree to.

Sorry, for being so long-winded. But, I am getting truly disgusted with the path that this entire business is heading down. It is terrible.

You betcha! These essays are for THEIR legal benefit . - Nothing more . . . .

[ In Reply To ..]
What a crock they are handing us. I won't put my name to ANY AGREEMENT for a paycut.

Everyone better think about this. You are telling them legally that you agree to the paycut if you go for one of the three "prizes."

That's some kind of recognition, huh.
I dont understand this and I wish you all would explain it - their benefit
[ In Reply To ..]
How is writing an essay about FTR agreeing to a paycut? You could focus on how it is such a great thing that we dont have to send blanks to QA, and the Benchmark, and that physician look up stuff. How would that indicate that you agree to a paycut?

I don't understand this at all. Even if you filed for unemployment for being underpaid and they brought up an essay and said you liked it enough to write an essay, your rebuttle could be... Well duh! They were paying 1000.00. They just cut my pay, I needed the money!
Because it's impossible - Badcat
[ In Reply To ..]
Because first time right is impossible to do all the time, even with all these wonderful search options we supposedly now have. We can't get everything right the first time with some of these reports, but we still could get docked if THEY think we could have gotten it right.
QA was an extra ear that sometimes got the blank and sometimes didn't, but if they did, hey, better outcome for the report and the patient. That is now gone.
This is penalizing the MTs for not being perfect by cutting our pay, which wasn't all that great before all this, thanks to ASR and its reduced rate.
So if anyone would try to take them to court again for cheating us out of our pay by asking for the impossible, they could use these essays to show in court that some of the MTs agreed to it and therefore they should not be held liable for paying us so little.
Well, I tell ya what, after EVERYTHING in the past that MQ - has done to MTs and CLIENTS . . .
[ In Reply To ..]
You would have to pay me a DEFINITE MILLION DOLLARS to believe or trust ANYTHING that they do.

They know THIS FTR IS NOTHING BUT A PAYCUT. BIG FRIGGIN DEAL so you get a REFERENCE SITE! Big WHOP. And "physician look up stuff" as you so quaintly put it --- equals more time spent OFF of the keyboard -- which equals MONEY out of your PAYCHECK.

You REALLY think it is a good idea to get penalized for asking for HELP? That is a HORRIBLE not to mention DANGEROUS proposition by MQ.

The MTs already WON A SUIT AGAINST MQ for shorting their paychecks. So anyone who has been here any length of time knows their UNDERHANDED TACTICS.

Honey, let me spell it out for you -- open your ears and open your brain --

MEDQUIST DOES NOTHING ON THE UP AND UP. They have been sued repeatedly by clients and employees. They are SNEAKY. They are not done with the salary slashing and the employee cutting. FTR and the agreements to such are just a couple steps in their plan.

No-one likes a paycut. No-one likes the possibility of having money taken out of their pay for work they have already done if they ask for help on a report. FTR IS WRONG. MQ knows most people with A BRAIN are not going to fall for this. And what better protection for MQ than to whip out an essay written by an MT who finally decides he or she has had enough and decides to fight them for UE or for wrongful discharge for not walking their TIGHT AND THIN TIGHTROPE THEY ARE STRINGING FOR US.

So they devise this REWARDS AND RECOGNITION PROGRAM.

What is THAT? Say we all write these ESSAYS. MOST of us will NOT be REWARDED OR RECOGNIZED. They are in essence saying, PLEASE PLEASE SAY YOU LIKE THIS AND WRITE IT DOWN,SO WE CAN HAVE IT IN YOUR FILE.

Not to mention, there are about 3,500 MTs. There are ONLY THREE FRIGGIN "PRIZES?" So much for RECOGNITION!

But there will be a whole systemful of essay from MTs saying HOW GREAT IT IS TO HAVE ANOTHER PAYCUT HANGING OVER OUR HEADS.

Wheee! I get reference materials. (If you are a savvy MT, you already have online and printed reference materials. Not to mention I want NOTHING from AHDI.)

Wheee! I get look up old reports (They should have been doing this from the get go, but even at that it doesn't always help, trust me).

Wheee! I don't have to send to QA. GUESS WHAT? When you start getting your audits in the future YOU WILL GET DINGED FOR BLANKS TO THE CLIENT. And there will come a time, when you have a dictator that YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND A WORD OF -- then you will sweat getting punished for that DIFFICULT REPORT because the entire report will go towards your QA LIMIT. And it will only take a couple of lengthy difficult reports to get your butt seriously DINGED in the paycheck!

YA DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU GOT TILL IT IS GONE!

BELIEVE IT.

But you go ahead and take your delicate little fingers and type on baby, type on. Just from what you wrote here, It is obvious, you are not well informed, but with time comes experience and you will learn about MQ and their underhanded tactics. Just wait until that first paycheck with your paycut in it or the first audit that you fail because MQ thinks you are sending way too many blanks to the clients.

I am on my way out of MQ thank God, but I WOULD ADVISE EVERYONE TO BE CAREFUL and do not put your name on an agreement to a paycut and a dangerous practice of punishing MTs for asking help to complete a patient's report.

But hey honey, good luck on getting ONE of the THREE REWARD AND RECOGNITION "prizes." You got 3,500 other MTs all hoping for some money, too.

BUT--You better make the money last. You will need it in the future when you start getting dinged and audited right out of your job.
you might have taken her post wrong - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
She is saying we can use writing the essay as an excuse to offset the pay reduction, thats all. You sound so upset. If I may ask, where are you going? You say you're on your way out, which is good, you don't sound happy at all. This job shouldn't cause this much stress.
No, it should not. At least not this much. - I read what she said.
[ In Reply To ..]
She doesn't understand. She doesn't know what the harm is she says, because we are getting SO MUCH from MQ with FTR. Oh glory, Benchmark wowwwww. Look up old reports, WOOWEE. And now a contest for a CHANCE at three monetary "rewards."

Gotta be a newbie or something.

I am sorry, I do not share her confusion nor her joy.

But enough is enough for me.

I am not the only one who is upset. It is bad enough MQ got away with taking money out of my pay the first time, but it is NOT going to happen again.

I got a local job. Starting shortly just until I finish school. Then I will never look back at these 2 decades with MQ again.

Wasted time as far as I am concerned.

And if they want to give recognition and rewards, they should do it the right way -- with HONEST bonuses that EVERYONE can earn for honest work and no paycheck deductions for asking for help.

That is BULL CRAP.

LOVED the remark about "BM"s! Im laughing so hard, I - dont dare drink my coffee for fear that - sm

What happened to 3 cents per line bonus - amd

[ In Reply To ..]
Remember when we were backlogged they would offer 3 cents per line for people who went over their "goal" for a like a 3-day period? Is this what they replaced that with a f!*&^%# essay to maybe win money 2 people. Ridiculous. Incentive is down the toilet
