If they would just learn the definition of the word, "flexibility". Instead of being flexible to let us do our work to the best of our capability, they always seem to default to "force" and "mandate".
In terms of the "mandatory" weekend and night shifts, why not give the same choice of Sun-Thurs or Tues-Sat work week that all the other MTSOs have with a 12-hour window for your 8-hour shift? That way, everybody wins.
The MTSO wins because the weekend shifts will be covered and they would know that you are committed to 8 hours of work on those days. Sometimes you might decide to work in the mornings, sometimes at night, but they would have the coverage.
WE win because even though we are scheduled to work a weekend day, we know we have some "weekend flexibility" to spend time with our families and have a life outside of work as long as we work 8 hours in that 12 hour window.
Soooo many other companies are going to that. Why does MModal ALWAYS seem to default to using "force"? They honestly wouldn't have to do that, if they used a little creativity and forward-thinking. They might SAY they're an "industry leader" but there are other companies leaps and bounds more progressive than they are.
