I soooo apologize... - bshel

Posted: Dec 08, 2012

to the person who will be filling in the blanks on the report I just sent through... Not kidding, the first 3 minutes (agonizingly long ones) were all LABS! Also, my family has banned me from talking about work anymore, as another MT stated her family did. I probably won't make 2 bucks on this report....eeeeeeeee

Are you new to MT? - If so, labs will come once you know them.

Labs are challenging. Once you hear them enough, though, they fall into place. I love my Diagnostic and Laboratory Test References by Mosby. It's a book (imagine that). I bought it 13 years ago and it's still useful. It's got all the basic labs and then some. The only thing it doesn't have is new lab tests that have come down the pike, but I still use it constantly.

It also gives reference values for what's normal and what's not, and what kind of disease it could indicate. Good trouble shooter. More info than a regular word book.

Thanks for the info! The main problem was that the dictating physician was sucking or chewing on something throughout...made me nauseous! Nasty to have to listen to for any length of time and to figure out with that thick accent the myriad of meds....woooo

Blanks in reports - recentlyoutsourced

Don't blame you!! Anymore, if I can't figure it out by 2 listens, then I blank it. They don't pay us enuf to struggle through these ridiculous dictators who obviously don't give a flip about the way they dictated. That's what QA/QC is there for. They can figure it out. If I was hourly, then I might actually take the time and try to figure it out.

You ARE new if you think you will get $2 - per report

You made me laugh!!! I meant, for the day. More like it, yes?!! :-) But boy, do I ever wish, that would be much better than its going now.

As a MME, if I cant get it in a couple of listens, it goes to client full - of holes. They want these idiots to dictate... SM

then they can darn well fill in the blanks themselves. I, also, dont get paid enough to spend more than a few minutes on a report. So dont worry about us MME, this one at least, has no problem sending a job full of holes.

i am an mme and believe me, we have all been there!!! don't feel bad just keep plodding and you'll do just fine. caring about the quality of your reports is the first step to continue learning. labs were the scariest part for me when i first started. find a couple of good websites for labs, save them to your favorites and before you know it the normal ranges, etc., will start to make sense.

I have been in this business for 33 years.  I recently posted on the main board about having a physical disability and how MTSOs do not take this into consideration, regarding federal laws.  I recently had an eye exam and found out that the peripheral vision on my right side has deteriorated.  This was an eye exam done at Wal-Mart.  I had my last exam done there six years ago as well and at that time, the doctor asked me if I had ever had a stroke.  I told him that as fa ...

Soooo Many Of MModal's Problems Could Be Solved ...

If they would just learn the definition of the word, "flexibility".  Instead of being flexible to let us do our work to the best of our capability, they always seem to default to "force" and "mandate".  In terms of the "mandatory" weekend and night shifts, why not give the same choice of Sun-Thurs or Tues-Sat work week that all the other MTSOs have with a 12-hour window for your 8-hour shift?   That way, everybody wins. The MTSO wins because the weekend shifts will be cover ...
