Medquist job possibility - irishlass

Posted: Apr 14, 2010

My hospital has just been bought by another hospital system that reportedly outsources to MQ; they give the docs an MQ number to call if they have problems with dictation, etc.  We are now official employees of the new hospital but have not idea whether our jobs are to be outsourced immediately, end of year, never, or whether MQ would hire us because we know the account so well after 10-15 years.  What's the shortest notice anyone has ever gotten that they were losing their MT job to outsourcing?  Thanks very much.

Will be 62 soon--thinking of retiring early but I really like acute care transcription.

Dont know what your hospital will do, but - sm

MQ does not really care if you know the account or not. I have been taken off of all of the accounts that I knew and loved and made to work on a combination of 10 or more accounts daily.

I am keeping my fingers crossed for you that your hospital keeps you around.

would you believe zero notice? - just lock you out of the system, not kidding -NM

Hostile Takeover - MT2020

Well, MQ will definitely hire you. That's part of the deal when they get the account. Will you be on the acounts you are used to? No. They have people who used to type for the hospital here (North Carolina) to a hospital in California. So, the good news is you will still have a job. The bad news is, you will get all new accounts.

Returned to office from lunch one day and - learned jobs gone.

Absolutely no warning of any kind.

Even if you go to work for MQ, there is very - little chance you will

get placed on your familiar account. That is the way they roll. I, too, thought maybe I would get my local hospital. In 6 years, I have been slung from one coast to the other.

WOW.... didn't think it was possible, but it just gets more disheartening everyday, the possibility of MQ taking over Spheris. I have worked on the same account since I have been with Spheris many moons ago, and the thought that I may soon not be able to work on this account anymore makes me not even want to crawl out of bed on Friday morning to see who won :( What good **** common sense does it make to take MTs off an account that they have been typing for years?? Seriously??

Common Sense? - MT Idiot

I'm not sure who you would be talking about, but it's no company which I've worked for -- for the last ten years. If the captains steering a ship want to speed it straight into an iceberg --- they do it. Is common sense driving their decision-making process?

Makes no sense, but we get shuffled like a deck - of cards regularly. One

Putting a gun to my head would not convince me to look for another medical transcription job. I see the industry in a state of absolute and utter chaos. I ao luxky I can get TIcket to Work Assistance. A little patience on my part now -- and I will have done the right thing for myself. Yeah -- I agree -- take off the rose-colored glasses. Just imagine, if one large, well-known company could somehow get "their thing" to really happen in India --- that would pave the ground for other "eagers" to jump through the hoop.

You can fool all of the MTs some of the time ---- what's the rest of that quote
---- and some of the MTs all of the time, but you can't fool all of the MTs all of the time. My rose-colored glasses developed a serious bi-lens-ial major crack.

History Of DVT - Possibility Of Suppression?
Dec 09, 2010

The knee actually looks very good today, but to ____ cover the hematoma that we had cultured back as there is a possibility of suppression.  Her calf has a long history of DVT. Should it be:  "cover the hematoma that we had cultured back as there is a possibility of suppression in her calf.  Has a long history of DVT. Does suppression make sense in this instance?  This is a new doctor and dictation is very muffled.  Just can't make sense out of this.   ...

How long did it take you to get up and running with the Q?  Why are they hiring?  I have been asked twice to test with them, but I always see NJA on this board!  Do you have plenty of work since you started, and how long has that been?  I don't want to go through the testing and hiring process and then sit there with no work available. ...

New To Medquist
Jan 10, 2011

Hi.  I am new to MedQuist.  Can people out there who do not hate the company please tell me if they have had a good experience or not?  So far, I am worried that I will not be able to make decent money, but I am hoping that when my speed improves, that will not be the case.  I have many, many years of experience, so that is not the issue.  Sound quality seems to be a problem, and I am finding that editing takes an inordinate amount of time.  I am a fast typist, so I ...

Job Op With Medquist

I currently work for a company that pays pretty much the same as Medquist.  I hardly have to deal with ESL docs and if I work my butt off I can make some decent money.  I'm very reluctant to quit my current job and work for Medquist after reading some of these posts.  I have no idea what kind of account Medquist is going to assign me to which has me nervous.  Also I'm about to be a single mom and I'm very worried about making the wrong decision.  ...

My Former Job At Medquist

Good afternoon all.  I left for SoCal in early August to care for an elderly family member and let my supervisor know about 3 weeks in advance but never heard a word from her.  I was flex-part-time.  We got back to NC about 3 weeks ago, and I'm going nuts trying to find a job.  Would you believe I received a termination notice in late October after not having worked August, September, or October?  What took them so long?  I was going to ask if anything had imp ...

If I Ran MedQuist
Jul 10, 2011

If I ran MedQuist:  Pay Rate:  No Tier 1, 2, 3.  All MQ MTs would have to be Tier 3 and paid as such.  Starting off at 9cpl with cost of living increases.  ASR rate would be paid 25% less MT rate.  25%!!!!!!!  Minimums:  Minimums will be set up at $$ amount each day, ASR or MT lines, daily minimum must me met at least 4/5 days worked and will be set at $100.00 (based on the new pay rate would be doable). Incentive:  Absolutely floors me this is a p ...

What Medquist Is Doing To Us
Jul 12, 2011

I want everyone to think about what Medquist is doing.  It does not matter what your job is for this company, they are systematically getting rid of the US employees because it comes down to the almighty dollar for this company.   It is not a US based company, the upper echelon is India.  This company sold out to its US workers long ago.  Shame on Medquist, but that is what they did.  It will not matter if we stay or go, they will be fine.  What each of us has ...

Aug 12, 2011

For once again proving to me how idiotic your polices and practices are. Heads up to all those who recently left the Q employment. Be wary of your exit interview. I received a phone call from a Private No., which I foolishly answered. Naturally assuming (when I heard the word Medquist), that it was ...

Hi everyone! I'm hoping to test with MedQuist in the next few days. I am wondering if anyone can give me a general idea of what to expect as far as testing goes?
