I currently work for a company that pays pretty much the same as Medquist. I hardly have to deal with ESL docs and if I work my butt off I can make some decent money. I'm very reluctant to quit my current job and work for Medquist after reading some of these posts. I have no idea what kind of account Medquist is going to assign me to which has me nervous. Also I'm about to be a single mom and I'm very worried about making the wrong decision. Wondering if I should take this leap of faith or not?

First, what are you looking for? It sounds like you have a decent job, why in the world would you want to leave?
In a word, "NO" do not go with MQ if you have what you say you have. In another word, "NO" do not go with MQ. No matter how great it starts off, it won't last and you will do nothing but ESLs and voice recognition which is horrible. The QA will hound you to death, I don't care how good you are or how much experience you have. You no doubt will have a horrible supervisor, be given different accounts and expected to know all the specifics to those accounts and lo and behold if you don't and you have to take YOUR time to learn all those specifics or make notes, etc., so you do. Again, WHY, WHY, WHY, would you even consider this company for one nano second? Again, stay where you are. IF you do decide to go with this company from haties, then I would suggest you don't quit your your other job and oh another thing, be prepared to have your mouse clikcs counted and your bathroom breaks, even if you get your lines. Just think of two words, when considering working for MQ, "minimum wage."

Before you make any sort of decision, read the posts below and numerous others that have been posted on this board. There are more MTs who have quit MQ than there are ones who work for them and that includes the "cheerleaders." BEWARE, turn back, don't look back, don't give them the time of day and don't be "fooled" by a recruiter who knows nothing about transcription.

I've been seriously considering switching from Medquist to McDonald's or Burger King. Like the former poster said, they pay the same as Medquist! There's also room for advancement and probably tons less stress.

Thanks everyone. I've definitely decided to stay where I'm at. I guess the reason I was considering it was because of the benefits. (The company I work for now has real crappy benefits). Again, thanks for the warning! :)

when we have gone from approximately 10,000 US transcriptionists to 2500 last I heard and have an unlimited Indian workforce. There are lots of people with No Jobs Available for the majortiy of their shift. I would think long and hard if I had ANY other job, good or bad, about quitting it for MedQuist.

Ok, medquist is finally lettimg me test for them and after seeing all these posts IM SCARED. There arnt too many companies hiring newbies. If this one is so bad to work for, who else hires newbies????

run as fast as you can from this company! They are hiring newbies to try to phase out the ones working here longer and making more money just so they can make themselves even more millions. Most of our work is sent to India. We get the leftovers that they can't do, we always run out of work. They worry about India first. Of course, when there's a holiday in India, THAT's the day we actually have a lot of work. It's a horrendous company to work for. If I didn't have to stay here to help a disabled relative in my home, believe me, I'd be gone.

If I ran MedQuist: Pay Rate: No Tier 1, 2, 3. All MQ MTs would have to be Tier 3 and paid as such. Starting off at 9cpl with cost of living increases. I have taken the tests, had a phone interview, and the person from the phone interview said my next step was to fill out an application on line. Hi everyone! I'm hoping to test with MedQuist in the next few days. I am wondering if anyone can give me a general idea of what to expect as far as testing goes? Can anyone tell me how closely affiliated DSG and MedQuist are, and if DSG outsources to India? We all know MQ outsources, but I'm having trouble getting information. I had an interview with Spheris yesterday. It sounds too good to be true - more per line than I'm making now, plus production bonus and weekend shift differential? And better insurance too. Okay.
