Who is New to Medquist? - Questions

How long did it take you to get up and running with the Q? Why are they hiring? I have been asked twice to test with them, but I always see NJA on this board! Do you have plenty of work since you started, and how long has that been?

I don't want to go through the testing and hiring process and then sit there with no work available.

I think they are hiring on because they want 100% TAT. It seems the supervisors are only happy when they have 100% and if you need a specific schedule, dont expect there to be work. I always get no work on my scheduled shift, but then told to change my hours, which I do and then there is still no work.
I don't know what to tell you.

I'm new, 3 1/2 months now. I got up and running right away. I get about 75/25 transcription, VR respectively. I am tier 3, SA4. Work is easy, nothing unusual; very few difficult accents.

I have never run out of work (fingers crossed). I got hired on the day I tested, started when the equipment got in. I wasn't told why I was hired other than I was "highly qualified", but I have seen many postings and am sure there are many "highly qualified" ppl out there. I did decline the ME position tho. Had read enough on this board to discourage that.

So far, so good. Making a better than decent paycheck. Won't take the company bennies, too expensive.

your post is so unbelievable to me....so many of us in your same position, and we have NJA. The only thing I can guess is that you were hired in at a lower rate than those of us who have been here for awhile??

I don't know what everyone's different rates are. I'm 10.5 cpl for transcription, 7.5 clp for VR. Isn't that about average for MQ?

I have read a lot of postings. It is a shame that the distribution of work is so uneven. It could very well be my region... :( I dunno. Don't have answers.

I was an MME and made 9 for MT and 6 for VR, so I find - this a little unbelievable.

Rates, experience, job types, accounts, regions... so many variables.

This really burns me. I am an MME. - I make less than you did.

I have been with MQ since the 90s. As a QA I was told I had the highest production in my service area. Also--it was rare that an MR disputed my corrections--I was not one of the fools who freaked on periods and commas. I would work on reports with 30 or more blanks and fill the dang things in. I worked my rear off!

Since being forced into the MME position, I make:
3 cents a line for QA work.
5 cents a line for ASR.
7 cents a line for transcription.

Everyone and their grandmother makes more than me!!!! No wonder my salary in the past year has been cut by over half!

I HATE MQ. I really really really HATE MQ.

I should be gone soon, have another job (local) lined up. I just want to tell them off when I leave. What a bunch of crooks, liars and thieves!

It's really a question of luck, I think. There are very few more depressing scenarios than sitting at your computer hyperventilating, staring at that NJA.

I need an application on my unemployment form this week anyway so I think I will apply and test since I am obviously not that busy right now. I do hope someone contacts me so I can ask for an explanation for all of the MTs they have with no work, and why would I want to take a job at the Q for 8-9-10 cpl when there is no work to earn any money at any rate they offer, and so why are they hiring? I would like to explain to them that when I accept a job, I expect to work. Has anyone ever done this? Any good answers? I don't want to take the place of an MT who quit because she sat there doing nothing. Do you think they will consider me too ambitious? Go figure.

I currently work for a company that pays pretty much the same as Medquist. I hardly have to deal with ESL docs and if I work my butt off I can make some decent money. If I ran MedQuist: Pay Rate: No Tier 1, 2, 3. All MQ MTs would have to be Tier 3 and paid as such. Starting off at 9cpl with cost of living increases. I have taken the tests, had a phone interview, and the person from the phone interview said my next step was to fill out an application on line. Hi everyone! I'm hoping to test with MedQuist in the next few days. I am wondering if anyone can give me a general idea of what to expect as far as testing goes? Can anyone tell me how closely affiliated DSG and MedQuist are, and if DSG outsources to India? We all know MQ outsources, but I'm having trouble getting information. I had an interview with Spheris yesterday. It sounds too good to be true - more per line than I'm making now, plus production bonus and weekend shift differential? And better insurance too. Okay.
