Can anyone tell me how much the medical insurance premium is for a single person? I was on sort of a public assistance/reduced cost medical program for me and my kids for the last couple of years, but now they want me to pay $170/month for just me. Apparently, my kids can be covered at a lower cost, but I can't afford the 170 bucks a month, so I'm going to have to take myself off the plan. I know I won't be able to get insurance w/ MM til next January, but just need to do a little planning. I'm kind of at my wit's end here, don't want to go w/o insurance but cant scrape together $170 every month.

I pay 67.00/pay check for medical and dental for just me and it is worth it, it is a pretty good insurance as I use it quite a bit.

How do you get insurance at $170 per month? I am paying $1234... I am 49. I am working just to pay premiums and overhead and cannot afford much treatment after paying for all of my meds and out-of-pocket costs..

That is not insurance at all. You might want to do a little shopping around. I'm not sure what part of the country you live in that would charge you over 1200 bucks a month for health insurance, but that is crazy.

It just went up from $1200 last month. It sucks growing old. I live in Southern California and wish I were not to injured to work from home, or I would go in-house for a job. Crazy.... We did shop around, and this was the only company who would take me, as I have several prexisting conditions but have always had coverage. I have had no choice. My husband lost his job 5 years ago and his benefits, and he still is not looking for a job but working as an IC like I am.

That is just horrible. I've never heard of insurance being so costly. I pray your situation improves.

I do know there were a couple different options to take and I took the cheaper option; however, it's still pretty good. Maybe thats it?

$36 per pay check so $72 a month. Just me, but - $2 of that includes Vision..sm

Insurance has been pretty good for me, no problems whatsoever. It also covers prescriptions, but you have a co-pay for prescriptions. Without the $2 for Vision I would be $34.

Mine is $67 a paycheck for health (choice plus option), $17 for dental, $2 for vision. Maybe the $36 is not for choice plus option?

Thats why, the Choice Plus costs more. I remember - seeing that one, but took the cheaper route.

I just signed up for insurance this past open enrollment and our first payment will be deducted from the January 12 pay check. But I have a question for those of you who already have insurance ... For those 2 months a year when there are *3* pay checks (in 2014 it will be May and October) how are the payments deducted ... do we actually make *3* equal insurance payments those months in the same amount - or still the same monthly payment, just divided by 3? ...
